Duh!
It's 55 pages now. This still feels just like the conjecture based frenzy around the missile crisis of 2011. This is actually less likely to occur this time than then, factually.

Has anyone else suggested the possibility that this is another ploy by the big swinging dicks in the Big 12 to leverage the scary unknowns of conference realignment into getting the tv networks to come to the table with a comparable deal other conferences are getting?
That’s what I had hoped. Now I am hoping we are moving to a P4 alignment with the SEC just poaching the best two “available“ teams and the other three have to grab the remaining B12 members. There is no way, ESPN intends for this to shrink to a 20 team super conference.

To those wondering about the numbers earlier... Here's how the SEC gets to $80M per school with UT/OU in the SEC. That's with all the layoffs ESPN has been having to make.

When you add helmet schools the numbers get big, real fast.

I shared this in another thread but this is my thought of what should happen if none of the leftovers get an invite into the P4 club.

Big 12 East would include Iowa State along with Cincy, WVU, UCF, Baylor, and Houston (Texas schools split 2 and 2 across divisions for recruiting).

Maybe I am at the acceptance stage of grief but this is a competitive conference. The money is gonna be low though. But it could be enough to stay competitive and get the champ into the 12-team CFP every year.

I get that we can all be made at OU and Texas but we’ve also been cashing those checks because of them too.

But at least OU backs up their blue blood status.I can’t wait to watch Texas go 7-5 in the SEC.
7-5 will be a good season if they end up in the SEC West. They’re about to become irrelevant.

This has NEVER been an issue in the SEC. They all recognize that each school contrubutes in different ways: Alabama - Football, Kentucky - Basketball, Vanderbilt - Academics and Baseball, Ole Miss - Miss Americas, etc.

They realize that EVERY school needs to be viable for the CONFERENCE to be viable. Texas and OU (to a lesser extent) are in for a big ole culture shock. Alabama has NEVER, EVER tried to pull the "We deserve more money" game.
So Texas might contribute to the SEC in ways other than football?

I've thought this needed to happen for awhile now anyway. It's weird that bowl eligibility is based on a raw W-L number instead of somehow factoring in SoS.

That'll be AWESOME!!! ESPN will put the top half of the Super SEC in the playoffs and the rest in the remaining bowls. Because everyone knows any SEC!!! team is better than any team in any conference. More reason to not watch their product.

You combine the lowered payouts with having to pay existing debt and that situation ISU=******.

Yep. Plus Matt Campbell and staff. Like I posted elsewhere, ISU will be fine from a competitive standpoint no matter where we end up. But If we can’t land in the Big 10 or PAC-12, we are royally ******.

I think the nice ones say the right things.

But the majority, no matter what they say, are going to dance on our grave.

There is a lot of truth to what you are saying. very few truly pull for both teams.

You want this if you don't want CMC as coach.

So, not a single Big 8 partner in our division. Great.
