They are going to morph into the current iteration of Tennessee, aren't they?

Be viewed as an also ran with the unreasonable fan base that no high profile coach wants to go to because of the dysfunction there.

Pretty solid comp....both had a high profile QB at one point that made them relevant for a couple years, but nobody can actually remember what else their program has done in the last 30 years to garner the prestige they think they have.

Once again, this is IF the B1G and / or Pac don't invite Iowa State.
What is your suggestion IF the B1G and / or Pac do not invite?
It will pay the bills more than being in the AAC or the MWC.

Yeah I understand that it's better than being in the AAC but not by much. I'm simply pointing out that it still isn't a great spot for Iowa State to land in.

I would love to exclude ESPN from any future media contracts.

Somehow, the ESPN "cycle" has to be broken. The Big 8 needs a media partner that is actually interested in promoting the Big 8 teams, and not simply treating them as cannon fodder to be manipulated for the benefit of the SEC.

Bowlsby could be a hero if he could be on the cutting edge of convincing another media company to become a major player in college sports and creating some stability. With Pac-12, Big Ten, and Big 8 media rights all coming due in 2024/2025 (and ESPN holds partial rights in all of those conferences), there is a ripe opportunity for a new media company to jump in. If ESPN just buys everything up, we can continue to look forward to the same instability and manipulation until they get their NFL-lite.

Let's end this facade of amateurism in major college football and sign a deal with Bally's.

So after years of lurking I decided to join.
Here’s what I’ve said for a few years that I wish would happen, and possibly will happen. 30 or so teams break away from the NCAA and form their own league. No requirement to go to school, can pay the players whatever. This gets the cheaters out of there and the fake title of “student athletes”. The rest of us can go back to a normal college football life. Conferences that make sense, etc. sure we might not have all the flashy buildings and pay our coaches more than NFL guys but at least it will still be college…

You know, I actually don't think UT is capable of wrecking the SEC like they have every other conference. I think they are finally in a conference that is big and strong enough that UT really doesn't matter. When they get tired of being the league punching bag and decide to pack up and go home, the rest of the league will just shrug and continue on. UT has possibly succeeded in making the largest athletic department in the country irrelevant.

Not exactly sure.

Yes, they are so arrogant that they think they can wander in and be a major player in the SEC. they are definitely continuing down a Nebraska path. Show up, get to play all the big dogs right away in cross division and struggle to .500. Not get the calls since they are the new guys. They will learn to hate this over time.

This is probably their last invite also. Get divorced three times and most think you are the problem, not all the ones you divorced.

For your second point. The SEC had a plan. The SEC will just play less conference games! Currently, they only play 7 conference games due to their flawed thinging of being a superior conference. Now they must think they're superiorer (yes I did that on purpose). So they will play even less conference games.
Then the other conferences will have to band together and refuse to play them, unlikely, or charge them up the wazzou for a game.

The win here would be a merger. This could also help with getting an invite from the B1G.

A full merger with Colorado and Utah joining the 'big 12 division' is the best possible outcome outside of B10. You get a immediate extension of GOR - you more/less reunite the B8, and you keep multiple travelable games on the schedule.

Not sure what the money would be, but would at least solidify as being apart of whatever the end game is. WV being the potential issue.

Not exactly sure.
and hopefully they are discussing black balling scheduling of SEC teams.
The big ten is supposedly talking to the PAC also. If those three hooked together and refused playing them in non con and worked new bowl alliances to avoid SEC, they could possibly put some leverage on them. Get the ACC to join in and you can throw the SEC on an island although I don’t think ESPN would allow that.
