imo - Mullets is foolishly following the Fongs Pizza model where you have a good thing going with 1 OG location but overextend yourself with multiple spots. Fongs went from 1 to 4 and then back down to 1 in like 5 years

Mullets also now is up to like 3 locations?
I keep hearing ads for a Mullets franchise for sale in Waukee on Takedown wrestling show.

Not a great sign of ownership/management IMO.
I would say it's probably a little early to make that judgement 2 days into being open. No calls/No shows have become pretty common in most workplaces these days, and if 5 people truly just didn't show up I wouldn't be surprised if the walk out was related to being extremely busy and short help.

Maybe they just opened too early? I assume trying to be open by "college moving time" is huge for them.

We tried Mullets for breakfast this morning and can confirm they have some substantial issues right now. Majority of the staff appears to have little or no restaurant experience. Prepackaged silverware included only a fork and the hostess told us if want a spoon or knife we need to ask our server. Both my wife and I got eggs Benedict and hashbrowns and they forgot the hashbrowns on both of our meals.

You can tell they rushed the remodel to get open, quite a few things that appear unfinished. Our booth had an electrical outlet with no faceplate and exposed Romex.

The food was decent but nothing special. We will give it a few weeks until the college students are back and then try it again. Hopefully they get things figured out.

Heard five people never showed up on Sunday to work and someone else walked out. Sounds like they might be closing at 3 pm for now due to not having a full kitchen staff.

Had a couple people from OC go there. 1 is back because of the **** show it is over there. Another is staying but going from a management role to bartender/supervisor role.

He said a couple weeks before opening they replaced gm's and the one that came in doesn't nearly have the experience that the original one did.

If you have the overhead of a restaurant and are counting on college kids to pay the bills you have an ugly reality coming.

And I sure as hell would want nothing to do with staffing a restaurant right now.

Agree and this could sink Mullets.

Mullets only open 7am - 3pm right now is inauspicious
They've posted that they were limiting hours during August to allow their staff to get their feet under them, then would open back up in the evenings starting in September. I suspect that they were just waiting for the students to come back to increase their pool size for employees.

New KFC is very close to me, if it were something good like a Popeyes it'd be way too tempting, so I'm happy it's a KFC.
