Rhoads seems to barely be able to credit Lanning...

I don't know. I get the complaints. But I guess I think he probably can't do anything right for some of the people on here.
Probably not. If it was me.....I would can him today. Even if it meant I had to rob a bank. But, since it's not me.........................if this minor adjustment he made yesterday meant we became competitive and even had a true chance of winning......I am all for live and let live. This isn't personal. It's business. And he is getting paid handsomely to do it. Which, like it our not, does include taking the arrows for putting out a bad product.

Didn't he just bench a QB that some on this site have said has traits similar to Aaron Rogers?

You're super salty about that comment from Woody in the podcast, aren't you? That's like the tenth time you brought that up. You realize he didn't say Richardson was as good as Rogers, right? That he just compared styles of play and said Richardson plays better on the move than standing still in the pocket?

Well, the only thing SR and AR have in common is they play the position of QB in the game of football. That's it. He could have compared SR to a hundred other QB's who are better on the move than standing in the pocket. H***, the QB at Iowa comes to mind. But no......let's compare his style with the best in the NFL and a lock hall of famer? It's funny stuff.

I see almost every ISU game, and I can't really say that Sam is any better on the run than he is in the pocket. Maybe slightly better.

I truly think he had the skills to become a very good QB at ISU with the right coaching. Most of this isn't his fault. You do as your told and coached to do. He has regressed nearly every year because of this staff's insistence on playing ultra conservative football and that it's more important not to screw up than it is to do everything you can to win.

This attitude is why we have 2 wins and not 4 ... Or 5.

This right here is what I think is the true problem. We have yet to lose a game to a team that is not better than us, per the world.

Attitude did not have anything to do with netten missing the chip shot, etc. If you can't see the obvious improvements in this team over last year then your just blind.

Has it been enough to win more games we shall see. Rhoads is accountable to making our team better to the point we win more games. So far he's had a couple of realistic shots to do so and we came up short some could say coaching some could say just horrible timing for poor player execution.

I expect us to show improvement in every major football static including the ultimate one in wins by the end of the year. Starting Saturday Night with Texas.

According to the Des Moines Register Rhoads said, "Joel ran the ball like a man. He's a big physical guy. He made some good reads. He opened up Mike and Joshua for yardage." This may not be as positive as some want but it isn't really negative.

Is coach implying that certain players don't run like a man??

Posters need to get over themselves. I did not get any such vibe from CPR. I felt he praised JL as well as praising others who deserved it. Should have Rhoads gushed about JL performance and put undue expectations on him like the rest of CF?

He should have said we have our new starter, Lanning is the guy going forward, and it appears its long over due, Probably should have pulled the trigger earlier.

Why? At that point in time it gives no benefit even if CPR knows in his heart JL is starting. First you don't give anything to your opponent. Second it would be premature to anoint him the starter without watching film and talking to the coaches.

This is contrived hate. There is lower hanging fruit to hate on Rhoads than making **** up.

I think the majority of college and pro head coaches have HUGE egos. Surprise, surprise.

Look at Ferentz over in IC last year. CJ Beathard was heads and shoulders better than Rudock, but KF stuck with Rudock basically all year because that was his guy that he decided should be the starter last year. Coaches have egos and are stubborn. Playing CJ this year was ok because it was KF's decision to play him, and not pressure from the fans or media. Coaches do not want it to look like they were wrong and the fans and media were right.

So Rhoads really doesn't want to see Lanning come in and play lights out when Rhoads himself basically said he wasn't ready this year. That makes him look bad. So if Lanning does come in and play well, Rhoads is going to give the credit elsewhere.

But I'm sorry, the rest of the team did not play any better for Lanning than they did for Richardson. Lanning just made more plays, made better decisions, and was able to move the ball. Rhoads just will not be able to admit it I'm afraid.

Actually it looked like the defense were playing their hearts out the second half. Reminded me if when Klein and Knott use to play. The oline did look the same.

Maybe he had his fingers crossed?

That should take about three minutes.

I think CPR's comments this week and last week regarding Lanning are begrudging and show a staff that had dug in on SR and now have egg on their face. Lanning is a "gamer". JHC - the guy lead the team and put up 27 points against Baylor in basically 1/2 of football! Those TD throws were no flukes - he put it where he needed to so our exceptional receivers could make a play. What would've happened had he played the last 3Q against TCU?

I feel bad for SR but this coaching staff doesn't look like it did him any favors by stubbornly keeping him in there all year and not giving Lanning an honest look in game situations.

I heard that to. I think it was Tribune.

Wait, Tribune said that? Didn't he drop two interceptions, one of which would've easily been 6? He played much better than he has this season, but he also gave up a couple extra opportunities, too.
