Not at all if they were sleeping. They probably left a gas burner on and forgot about it, went to bed and never woke up. If they were awake they might have had difficulties breathing, but they would have most likely passed out before then.

Even The Replacements works because of guys like him going all in with a bit of a wink of 'Yes, we know this premise and everything is nonsense, and that's the point' vibe.

While most remember him from Hosiers and The Firm I think Mississippi Burning may be one of his best movies. Enemy of the State, Crimson Tide, and The Replacements are movies that I will watch through if I find them on the TV on a random day.

The first movie I remember seeing with Hackman was The French Connection. I still remember this line:
"Have you been picking your feet in Poughkeepsie?"

I’ve had a sports movie marathon going in background for a few months. That movie really isn’t that great and hasn’t aged well (major league has aged better w same premise) but he’s probably in a two person tie for best actor to play a coach with Denzel and it pulls my rating up to a 6/10 or 7/10. You put some random actor in that role and it’s probably a pretty cringe inducing movie.
 
Such a phenomenal actor. Not a character actor by any means, but a lot of versatility from being able to go from protagonist to antagonist.

Some of my favorite “deep cuts” of his in addition to the ones already mentioned
  • Crimson Tide - him vs Denzel just chewing scenery
  • Mississippi Burning - my favorite of his badass roles
  • The Quick and the Dead - cheesy, but a great cheesy villain
  • The Poseidon Adventure - one of my favorite disaster movies
  • A Bridge Too Far - lousy accent, but a nice piece of the ensemble cast
  • Downhill Racer - sort of a predecessor to Hoosiers
  • Absolute Power - a different character for him
  • Enemy of the State - underrated action, thriller
  • Welcome to Mooseport - his last movie. Not a great movie, but a fun, safe, good-feeling movie

HIs bastard cowboy run in both Unforgiven and The Quick and the Dead were two of my favorites roles of his.

Unlike many older "techy" movies (Disclosure/Hackers/The Net/etc) Enemy of the State has held up pretty well. Not perfect, but still feels plausible and relevant

It got down to 34 degrees in Santa Fe the night before last, so they were probably trying to heat the house with something. Not sure if Furnaces are a thing in Santa Fe or not, or what the normal climate there is.

I doubt it was a heating element other than the furnace. Santa Fe is 7,000 feet above sea level. The average temp during winter is in the mid-40s. The heat would be used regularly during this season

Probably the stove would be my guess if it was CO
 
There are a lot of really old actors still alive. I suspect we'll have run of legends passing away in the next two or three years.
