Robert Jones is the most consistent player we have.

All of our guards seem to struggle bringing the ball up the court except Lipsey. One is particular seems to struggle to dribble without looking at the ball. Maybe prefer him shooting to dribbling.
It would be nice to get Holmes moved off the ball. I don't think we can afford to is the problem.

I still don’t understand the purpose of our offense most of the time. And it seems like none of the players do either. Most of Jones’s points seem to be when people pass it to him. He looks around and his teammates are standing still and not wanting the ball. So he dribbles and creates.

Gabe does a great job of using screens and getting open looks but then cant make the shots. Feels like we should be doing that for Lipsey or Grill more instead of Gabe.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the scheming. Guys just aren't making the most of their opportunities

Lipsey is the only true PG on the roster. The ball needs to be in his hands every single time up the floor.

Holmes was god awful tonight. it seemed like he was leaned on to get a bucket just to get something started. I wouldn’t be surprised if we start seeing some plays to get Lipsey to the basket in those situations.

It feels like Lipsey is going to take over this team, he has almost done so already. I wish we could get Jaz more involved. Otherwise we need to get Watson or Ward going. Gabe, to his credit, tries to create when nothing else is working. He is starting to look miserable having to do so though.

Well seems a repeat of the women’s game. Bricks and frantic fumbles and silly mistakes. Team is very scattered and disjointed. Falling behind by 20 shows weakness and lack of focus. Bad look all around

Agreed, other than when he goes to the FT line which is the equivalent of a turnover.
True

When he shoots two free throws my son and I set the over/under at .5. Bet the under.
He has worked on this too. Last year he was not even close / often very wide right or left.
This year most are somewhat on line. Hence the banked free throw earlier this year. Love the guy!

I really, really feel sorry for Gabe. He needs a psychiatrist or a hypnotist. Finally hits a three and hits the side of the bank board on the next. He was not the only one. We had some monumental misses last night.
I NEVER thought I would say this - they out toughed us last night. Rebrecca (however you spell it) looked like a first team all American.

Iowa looked like they got tired of reading how soft they are so took one game to prove to Hokdom they were 'Hok tough'.

Good for them but watch them return to reality quickly when things don't go as well.

Lipsey reminds me a lot of freshman year Monte. Just so composed and you can’t take him off the floor. Always seems to make the right play.

Lipsey reminds me of KU's Frank Mason, albeit without the arm-bar.

There's a reason we talk about the Fran Fade.

Lipsey wouldn't even shoot the ball the first few games. Ironically, he might have the most reliable shot on this team.

Not trying to badmouth Osun in any way, but it's been disappointing to see Jones look like our best big man this year, and by a large margin at that. Osun transferred to a high major to prove he was one of the best in college and deserving of NBA looks, and so far the stage has looked much too large for him. Jones being by far our best big man is a huge credit to the work he put in, but a terrible sign overall for the team.

Didn't he have over 15 against both UNC and Villanova? He's looked rough since we got back from Portland but he's shown he can play at this level already.

2 points 4 rebounds against UNC
17 points 5 rebounds against Nova

averaging 9.3 ppg in 17 min per game. 3 rebounds per game.

I think he can definitely play at this level, but the intensity and rebounding I expected (maybe my expectations were off) from the top big man and defensive player of the year in the A10 have been absent IMO.

Again, maybe my expectations were wrong. I expected him to be potentially the best player on the roster, and so far he doesn't even look like the best big man

No offense is ever going to work if you have no shooters on the floor.
