Are you suggesting he is full scholarship worthy? I'd love to see the kid in the ISU room, but I don't think you'll find many that agree with that sentiment. Full rides are generally reserved for the elite of the elite in wrestling. We're probably using close to a full ride on Meeks (total speculation on my part), but aside from him, we don't have anybody else quite in that league in this recruiting class. As much potential as Larson has, he needs a lot of polish before he's ready to step on the mat. This isn't a knock on him, or any of the other kids we already have committed. I'm excited about all of them and appreciate them choosing the Cyclones, but it's just the way things are in the 9.9 scholarship era.
We are using more scholarship money on McCauley I would say. He is the best prospect that Jackson has had come in, and is ahead of Meeks by some distance.

I think he may be visiting ISU this weekend and it sounds like he is going to pursue a wrestling career.

Potentially stupid question here, but if a kid is visiting, what are some of the rules? I'm kind of assuming he can't practice with the team or do things like that, but I just don't know.

It would be interesting to know if Larson's trip to ISU this week end also includes looking over the football facilities.

Agreed. I was focussing more on this year's high school seniors. I guess we've had McCauley committed so long that I tend to include him in last year's class for some reason. He's the biggest recruit we've had since Reader.

Ross has technical skills. In the 3 matches that went the distance...they were **** poundings on the mat and on his feet...they were 17-2 against kid that took 5th in the semi's and 11-1 twice against the runner up who he humiliated in the finals. Very athletic kid who excels at 3 sports. The football staff has been in contact with him, but for walk-on.

Don't know if this would work out and of course I don't have any say in it, but I'd like to see him keep his options open for football and wrestling if both coaches would go for it. 99% chance he'll be redshirted anyway, so let him do both and see how he stacks up against d-1 football players and wrestlers, and he could make his choice after that. I have a feeling he'll prove to be scholarship worthy in either sport.

Taylor was the biggest recruit since Reader. We know where that's at. I don't know that you let this kid get away. He may be a killer in the weight room, ala Varner. He may be good at 197 soon, but like Dave Z at heavy later. He's right down the road, and may love Ames. I hate this speculation. Going to ISU, even if it's partially paid for is a big deal. Our message boards are lit up for the kid. I hope he wants to be a Cyclone, I want him to be one.

Can't imagine Ross will ever be big enough to wrestle heavy.
