It's way beyond being an anxiety issue at this point.....he just plain doesn't want to play basketball for a living. I don't anticipate him playing this upcoming season in the NBA, just like this past season. Such a waste and disappointment.

If anyone wants to go back to any of the older threads and find my posts that say he would never play a second for the Rockets...I'll gladly take some rep.

I can't waste rep on the likes of you, but will this work?

I'm not convinced that he is done. Sounds to me like he is getting ready for the season, but away from the team. Hopefully he joins up once things get moving.

There are a lot of players in the NBA that don't tow the line - Royce just speaks his mind and gets railed on for it. It's his choice to do so. At least he isn't smoking weed everyday and partying. He'll be back.

He needs to grow up and act like a man. Everything he says is just an excuse for his childish behavior. He expects the Rockets to continually bow down and make concessions for him without making any effort to be a part of the team.

His needs a more hand on agent. Would have helped with a lot of the twitter rants and team negotiations.

All this Royce talk made me go watch a highlight tape of his. Damn was he good.

I think its a snowball's chance in hell, but I truly hope he gets everything figured out and plays.

How can he be done when he never has started? Not only has he not started, but he is getting paid millions to not get started.

There might be lots of players that don't tow the line, but I'm betting most of those offenders have proven beforehand that they were more than a whiny little jr high school girl who tweets every part of her drama with her friends/parents at every whim.

He needs to grow up, act like the rookie he is and if he ever proves himself to be anything more, then he might get away with making demands. I doubt he ever plays in the NBA......but if he does he has a lot to learn about the team part of team sport.

Even if he wanted to sort all the drama he created out other teams wouldn't want to touch him, and the Rockets could never trust him. I wish he could figure his problems out and actually play. However, I don't think it will happen now and it makes Fred look bad for vouching for him.

Agree on the drama he has created. He has dug himself quite a hole and I think the only outside shot he has right now is the Rockets. If he is waived, no team is going to send him paychecks when he has proven absolutely nothing.

I still don't think this makes Fred look bad. He is one of the hottest names in college basketball/NBA coaching chats. Fred proved Royce could play. All the scouts knew that, and they knew the baggage coming along with. If anything it shows that Fred can be great with any type of player from these "troublemakers" to HS players.

Maybe, at some point he will realize that he would have more leverage if he actually showed the NBA what he can do. Kicking butt in the league for a year or two would give him some bargaining power.

I think the opposite. I think Fred looks like a genius for being able to keep Royce on task while he was at ISU.

I still hope he has a chance to play, but it sounds as if he wants the role that Fred had him in in the NBA. Is he a good enough Point FOrward to play at that level? I hope he is, but I don't see the Rockets giving him that shot.

He seems a little delusional about things at this point. Since he hasn't done anything but tweet for over a year, I think people have forgotten his abilities and just chalk him up as a flake.

I still am a huge Royce fan and wish him the best. It clearly seems that he needs to learn just to shut up. LBJ said some incredibly stupid things and people still seem to love him. He needs to do his talking on the court. Also, the press gets just about everything wrong. Therefore, there might be a lot more to this than we know.
