Technically he still has 3 years to compete plus a redshirt left. He could still be around for a long time if he chooses to be. He needs to grow into 141 or suck back down to 133
Casey Swiderski of Michigan opened up the match with a big win in folkstyle over Jesse Mendez of Indiana, 10-4. Swiderski opened with a quick ankle pick takedown right off the whistle and never trailed. Swiderski had two first period takedowns to lead 4-1. Mendez got a second period escape to make it 4-2. In the third period, Swiderski added two takedowns and had riding time to end with a six-point lead. Coming in, Ohio State commit Mendez was No. 2 in the FloWrestling Pound-For-Pound rankings, while Swiderski an Iowa State signee was at No. 17.
Say in interview afterwards that he plans on going right away at 141
Swiderski looked incredibly good.
He's super slick, has a great motor, and pushes the pace constantly.
I'd say redshirt Redding next year, let Swiderski assert his dominance at 141 then watch him bulk up to 149 and slide Redding back in at 141.

This is the attitude that is hopefully infectious for some guys in the program that feel entitled to their spot and won't put in the work to train and get better.

OH MY LORD!!! Just watched Swiderski match with Mendez. This kid is ready to compete for high AA next year. His hand fighting, positioning, re-attacks, mat wrestling, speed, and so on and so on some of the best I’ve seen from a HS kid.
The speed on those re-attacks are seriously going to be nearly impossible to be stopped. That kid is going to be SOOO fun to watch.
The skill and athleticism is clearly there, but man it’s the mindset that makes me so excited for him.
