Jim Rome had Izzo on the other day. He was asked about Lucious and if it was a distraction. Izzo said he is a great kid and excellent in the locker room, but he just didn't have the commitment to do what was needed to prepare himself for championship level competition. I like hearing how good he was in the locker room and with his teammates. Hopefully, he now has the wake up call to commit to do what is needed.

Does anyone know how many years of eligibility will McGee have?

We lose Scotty and Allen after next year, so it would be great to have both McGee and Korey for our 1/2 positions in 2012-13.

Izzo wanted him, Fred wants him. I want him on the team.

Do you doubt izzo's ability to spot talent?

I don't know if it was the preparation time thing that Izzo said, but for all his talent he sure isn't that productive. I am dubious on this one but as somebody said, I wouldn't have thought Diante would be doing what he is doing this season.

McGee, Babb and Lucious would all be Seniors in 12-13.
Our 2012 class needs a SG or two to go with the 2011 PGs.

Definately wouldn't hurt, although I believe our 2011 PGs are actually more combo guards. If they turn out to be more SGs than PGs, our 2012 class might need a PG.

Not only will he help the team next year by providing stiff competition on the practice squad, but he can teach our young guards like Odunsi and Sledge a few things as well to better prepare them for college ball.

everyone keeps saying that but I just don't see it.
Odunsi isn't a strong shooter and Sledge is 5-7.
I think they have to play PG. I think the SGs we bring
in will be shooters first.

This was exactly my initial reaction, but I was looking at his numbers and a little improvement in his 3-PT shooting would go a long ways toward making him a more efficient player. I'm thinking Freddie thinks he can make that improvement.

Korie Lucious is going to be part of one of the greatest plays in Iowa State History. Just watch. I just have a feeling he is giong to do something in the NCAA tourny that will live in infamy. Then all you people who don't want him will eat crow.

I want him to come to ISU...I hope you are right! I miss Iowa State being a part of the NCAA tourney...I can't believe how long it has been!

Korie Lucious is coming from Michigan State (where Chris Allen also came from). Apparently Tom Izzo lost interest in winning and having good players on his teams. Lucious is one of those players......

I think he meant from where are people hearing this news. Not where he is coming from.

My concern was about pulling a scholarship offer from someone else for him. Since Cook took care of that, I'm down with whatever the coaching staff decides.

I trust Fred. I want him if Fred and the staff wants him. Fred has a plan.

I hope Fred's plan is very similar to one that they'd apply to Charlie Sheen because the reason he isn't at MSU anymore has nothing to do with lack of ability or Izzo not wanting to win, it's because the kid couldn't/wouldn't stay sober.

The "once he's on the court" is the problem for me. He's going to take up a scholarship for 2 years and will only be able to play one. That's not a very sensible use of your scholarships, if you ask me, but nobody did. Color me skeptical if his talent is worth that much. If he was an all-American or even an all-conference candidate, yes. But he's just an honorable mention-type player.

But like someone else said, if Hoiberg wants him, who am I to argue? I'll support the decision, if/when it happens.

This probably means you didn't like Allen to come here either. Same situation. Korie comes in ready to play with experience playing in Big Time DI basketball and the NCAA tournament. He's been in all those situations you want a player to be in. He'll be playing when our senior leadership (Scotty and Allen) in the backcourt has gone. Sounds like a perfect match to me.

Thats funny just heard Izzo the other day talking about Allen and Lucious and he thinks they will both do fine with a second chance. Fred has had multiple talks with Izzo and feels they can be successful at ISU. Really Charlie Sheen your a hater? Most bball fans know this is a good move. He is a 4 star recruit with 2 final 4 trips and made that team go. Look at MSU without the leadership of Kory and Chris Allen this year. They still have all the talent but no leadership. I fully trust the MAYOR and that would be a awesome start to the 2012 recruiting class.
