not knowing much about the situation, any idea why he left? I am assuming it was mutual and Hoiberg just wanted his own guy, since Rutter was a McD guy?
If that was the case it probably would have happened 3 years ago. Probably just a case of getting a more true coaching job with the ability to not have to move very far if at all.

Just seems like ISU with Hoiberg to Drake is not a step up or even a lateral move...
I agree, but I think the Director of Ops position is very limited in what he can do coaching if at all, someone with more insight on that can probably explain better.

But he has a more involved job. From what I gather DBO isn't a real hand on job.

I can only assume that Babb is going to try to play professional ball somewhere next year. In fact, I'd guess that will be the case for all of those guys. Just guessing, but I think what you are asking about is doubtful.

Yeah, I think Babb is a shoe in for overseas but honestly I think he may catch on in the D-league. He has range and can defend. I don't know if he'll ever be a Battier but that's the kind of skillset your looking at here. He's also plenty athletic. It would have been interesting to see what he could do as primary scoring option.

As far as I know DBO is the guy who organizes the logistics of pretty much everything from practice to camps. I don't think they are allowed to do any coaching/recruiting.

I could be wrong but I think is what they do. So even though Drake may be step down Rutter will have more hands on coaching duties than he does now.

I like Babb and hope he makes a billion dollars playing pro hoops ... but I'm not optimistic. His ball handling needs a lot of work and he needs to shoot a higher %. Here's to him, though, I hope he catches on somewhere and plays as long as he wants.

He will get paid nicely to play basketball for the next 5 to 10 years
