This project will not only pay for itself directly but there will be a lot of indirect costs. As tv gets better we need to increase the quality of attendance to maintain our attendance levels.
No, it won’t pay for itself. A parking lot used 7 Saturdays a year isn’t going to generate significant additional cash flows.

Tiger Lane in Memphis was $15M if I remember right. If you have money to blow its a great project. We aren’t Texas.

We can't have it both ways, continued success on the field, and then low ticket and parking prices. ISU tickets and parking are some of the lowest in the conference. So are contributions and what you get from them.

Currently you can purchase a ticket in the Sokup South endzone for a donation of $1000, which allows you to purchase 4 tickets at $750 a piece. At Iowa that donation level would allow you to purchase one ticket. If you wanted four, the donation would be 4 grand, and then the price of the tickets.

We need more parking, the university needs to convert the intermural fields on the East side of University St. into paved parking lots. The city of Ames could also allow parking on the sidewalk and green space west of the stadium when the weather allows. You could park a lot of cars on the east side of the street west of the stadium.

The price of success is measured in $$$$, we have been lucky before, but we also sucked at football. Time to stop complaining and pony up. Go cyclones, I cannot wait for the season to arrive.

This still says $500 minimum donation for Sukup. Also, Sukup ticket prices were increased to $850 each for this coming year. https://cyclones.com/facilities/?id=18

I think a RV park/lot with hook ups would be used alot.
- All football games, full
- All summer, mostly full
- Graduation and other big weekends, full. I would've said VEISHEA, but then I got sad.

They aren't. The IM field footprint isn't changing. Giant renovation project is already out for bid.
Why couldn't someone have just won that 1 trillion dollar powerball jackpot. The cost could have been a non-issue.

You just completely ignored everything in my post. As others said if they did a rv park set up it could be used more times out of the year. The most important consideration is that it will minimize attendance drop as games remain an event and not just a game.

There is the land grant issue but I feel like the school uses that as a crutch. There has to be ways to get around it for even just the school portion of that discussion.

Meh. As TV improves, attendance will drop due to cost and the ease of watching on TV.

I guess I was $100 to high, sorry I will try better next time. My quote would be $4,000, instead of the correct $3.900.

But it does not change what I said, we are going to spend upwards of 10 million to improve those fields, that is great for the students, I do not have a problem with that. But why not do a 2 for 1, move the fields out to the cross country course, the students get their new intermural fields, and then pave the land east of university street, more parking for the games. Both side win.

That’s what I’m saying. That’s why we need to increase the value of attending a game. The goal would be to add features of attending a game like the power and water hookups that would lead to people valuing attending over watching on tv. When evaluating the cost and return on the project you have to account for the slower decrease in attendance if you don’t increase amenities. It isn’t just a simple equation to calculate revenue.

Lol how is TV gonna get any better than it is now for sporting events ? I could see if tickets get too expensive but it’s already really easy to watch the game on TV.
