Holy flashback, Batman. The Big 8 ended in '97 with a different tournament championship (on the men's side at least).

I'm sure you meant to say Big 12.

The day the men beat OK State in an incredibly intense semifinal at Kemper in the afternoon and then we all poured into Municipal Auditorium that night to see the women roll Texas in the championship was one of the best days of my life. Then we got to go back to Kemper the next day to see the men destroy OU to top it off. It was an incredible weekend.

We just about got kicked out of our hotel that night. We were staying in OU's team hotel and we were out in the lobby overtly making noise when we came home after closing down the bars. Hotel staff didn't like us crooning "Najera, Naaajera, Naaaaaaajera, Eduardo!" Go figure...

I recall the great game, but didn't remember the blowing chunks part until the reminder. Great memories of a dream season!
