Always launder money through the parents first.

How do you think Scott Drew and John Calipari* pull it off?

Although Cal is more of a "give Worldwide Wes" a little up front and then make sure his players sign with WWW's employer.

Not to mention the pre-existing relationship that existed. It sounds like this AAU Coach is practically a family member of this kids. So if some rich kid's Dad floats him a few thousand dollars it is cool, but if de facto AAU coach dad gives a kid some money to help him get by on its an NCAA violation.

Ridiculous.

The weird thing is, with a lot of these AAU coach/agent runner types, once the kid's pro potential is gone so is the "family member" relationship. It's almost like they see these kids as a chance for a paycheck, rather than another son. Funny how that works, right?

That's what I'm saying, it's ok to break the rules, you just have to do it in the right way.

Jamar Samuels is not a NBA prospect. He was highly recruited out of high school. He has never consistently played to his talent level.

Samuels and his AAU coach both knew the rules. If the AAU coach would have waited until Samuels' season had ended there would have been no suspension and this thread would not exist.

Dalonte Hill took his services to Maryland. I sincerely hope their compliance department is top notch. I will not say Dalonte Hill is crooked but shudder at all the AAU coaches that have an opportunity to mess things up where ever he is the hired recruiting gun.

Reminds me a lot of the less than deserved PJ3 sanction from last year. NCAA going after little stuff where people are trying to make ends meet and important stuff is completely ignored.
