Indiana is going to play Purdue, and Iowa is going to play Michigan. So, the bad news is that will pretty much lock up a NY6 bid for Indiana, but the good news is that Iowa will be locked out. Of course, it would be great if both the Hoosiers and the Hawkeyes lost to their 2-4 opponents.

The Big Ten could not have been more blatantly obvious when making these matchups. Instead of division runner-ups playing each other -- as was the original plan -- they decided to have CFP #12 play a 2-4 team, and CFP #16 play a 2-4 team. Trying to set up both ranked teams for wins (and thereby moving up towards NY6 berths) instead of having one eliminate the other.

It also hurts both teams playing bad teams. So, I don't see Iowa State losing the Big Xii CCG and dropping below either Indiana or Iowa. That being said, while I have no love for the B1G, they are using the cross-over matchups to preserve the Indiana-Purdue Old Oaken Bucket Rivalry (originally postponed due to Covid) - which I believe is more important than the other reasons as a CFB Traditionalist.

Except we've seen that the win itself is viewed as more important than who you beat. Otherwise, someone would have mentioned that A&M (.442), Georgia (.448) and Florida (.485, including Alabama's 10-0) have all played sub-.500 schedules.

Getting Michigan pretty much assures Iowa not getting a new years 6. BiG knew the screwed Indiana and want to do everything in there power to lock that spot up for the Hoosiers.

The same way that playing LSU locked up a spot for Florida?
I was thinking in terms of the Committee being bound and determined to have two B1G teams in the NY6 and that having IU in the Fiesta is better than Iowa in the Fiesta. Of course, a couple of road Upsets by the Boilermakers and Wolverines would be great news, because that would free up that Fiesta Bowl slot for the Big Xii CCG loser. I think the Sooners would rather go to the Fiesta than the Alamo!
