I was running off a golf course in high school and missed getting hit by lightning by about 15 ft. I had partial deafness for a day or so and migraines for close to a week. Not to mention the electricity running through my body when it happened. I hope I never am that close to one again.

wrecking my car hammered my senior year of college on the 4th of July with baseball districts coming up. Thought I was getting an OWI for sure

I'm sorry but that isn't something I would say in a public forum. I hope you were by yourself and didn't put anyone's life in danger.

Senior year in high school riding a motorcycle with shorts and a muscle shirt. Going about 50 over a smooth set of railroad tracks, front end was a little light and I hit a corn cob. Went into a tank slapper and slid 110 yards on the pavement. It took me a few years to get back on a bike and I've never driven a block without proper gear. I still have flashbacks 20 years later when I ride a motorcycle.

As far as spooky stuff, we use to drive down to this place called "hell" in Waterloo. I don't remember the stories behind it but we always found a way to scare the crap out of ourselves.

I agree. The districts baseball comment is a very immature comment too, as if that's the worst that could have happened. You being ineligible for a silly baseball game. This coming from someone who has lost a family member to a careless drunk driver. Cool story though....

Was driving down I-70 on my way to KC from Denver. Snowy conditions but roads were clear and not much traffic. Turns out it was black ice. A driver coming the opposite direction lost control and flipped 3 times and ended up sideways in my lane. I hit the brakes but got nothing. Had to swerve into the median and missed the car and a reflector pole by just a few feet. Came to a stop about 30 yards beyond the car and looked back to see the guy and his dog climb out of the car unhurt but shaken up. There was dog food, CDs and other random stuff all over the interstate. I would have most likely killed them both and who knows about myself. Scary.

On a double date in HS.Somehow we ended up at Keller's Cemetary. It's an abandend cemetary on a long dark dirt lane near White Oak (SE Story Co). My date and the other guy turned back about half way down the lane. My buddies date latches on to my arm so I blurted out what's that and she basically jumped into my lap. We go a little further and just before I pulled the same stunt a deer jumps out of the overgrowth in the ditch about six feet from us. That was the moment I truely learned the meaning of the term breath taken away.

I was riding with a buddy when I was 16 or so on gravel in a Chevette going 80 mph when he lost it on a little rise in the road. Ended up flying into the ditch backwards and rolled a few times down a fence line. Neither one of us had so much as a scratch, though at some point, a metal fence post put a hole through the roof. Being young and stupid, the gravity of the situation didn't strike me until I was much older, though I couldn't comfortably ride with someone else driving without being freaked out for quite a while.

Back in 2006 I was flying home from a business trip to Mexico City. My American flight got cancelled so I got booked on their partner airline, Mexicana. Most of the flight was normal, but when we were coming into land at Dallas the captain pulled up at the last second and went around again. At that point I was a little freaked out but not too worried. Then on the second approach the same thing happened, this time we were no more than 40-50 feet in the air when he pulled up. At this point everyone in the cabin was starting to freak out. All of the cabin announcments were in spanish, so I had no clue what was going on. On the third approach we once again buzzed the runway and pulled up. At that point I was sure we were going to die. On the 4th attempt, I could tell that we were on a completely different runway, with firetrucks and emergency vehicles lining the runway, so I was preparing for the worst, but I'll be damned if he didn't put in down on that attempt. We taxied to the gate (which took forever since we were out with the FedEx planes) got off the plane and that was that. I never found out what the problem was. I fly about 75,000 miles/year and I still get nervous on landing because of that. I've also never flown Mexicana again.

Stayed in a hotel room by myself for a trip to a relatives in Colorado. Througout the night the curtains kept getting opened (bout 4 times). So had to keep shutting them. The fourth time I just sat up and said, "**** it, you win"...and went to sleep.

I was a lowly 5th grader on a babysitting job. After supper, the girls wanted to go outside to play, but for some reason I felt really weird. I just felt that something wasn't right, so instead, we watched a movie in their upstairs room. During this time, I was panicking for no apparent reason. Then, the phone rang, but I didn't hear it in time and missed the call. I found out the next day that the neighbors had tried to call me to warn me that a man who had escaped from prison was hiding out from the police in the backyard.

Also, flipped my car once. I was fine and completely calm at the time, but in retrospect, it seems scary.

When i was 12 or 13 or so, my family and some family friends went on a cruise to the Caribbean. On one of the islands, my friends and I went swimming at some secluded beach. Eventually, we got bored and decided to go kayaking further out at the same beach. After we got out pretty far, we all got tired and just sat there for awhile when we see this big fish thing underneath us, then another one, and another one, and about 5 more. At this point we all shat ourselves and paddled back to shore. When we went back to the other side of the island we told the guy who gave us the kayaks and he said there are always great whites at the beach and that people shouldnt swim there. I think i had my first beer that day.

Also, my mom and i got robbed and car jacked in east st louis one time.. that sucked

My sister works for the National Park service and is basically paid to go to parks. Anyway, she spent an entire summer at Antietam National Battlefield in Sharpsburg, Maryland. For those unfamiliar with history, Antietam is the bloodiest day in American history. 23,000 casualties in one day, more than D-day. Any-who, the park service put her up in an old house on the Battlefield called the Pry House, which was actually used as the Union headquarters and main hospital. Now you must understand, this house was massive and sat alone on a hill. At least 15 bedrooms with no running water and limited electricity. The house was 5 minutes from any highway and was only accessible on a dirt road. The house and subsequent barn were covered in 1862 graffiti with soldiers engraving their names and ranks on window sills, door frames, and walls. The attic actually has a peep hole, in which General McClellan actually watched the battle.

Well, this house was obviously haunted. Hundreds of people had died in the house and even General Israel died in the room next to the one in which my sister stayed in throughout the summer. Things were often moved throughout the house, but nothing ever bothered my sister until one night when someone tapped my sister's shoulder while she sleep. At first, she thought nothing of it and rolled over and went back to sleep. It happened again a few minutes later and she sat up in bed, looked around, saw nothing, and went back to sleep. It happened again a few minutes later. My sister tried to ignore it by rolling over. Several minutes later, someone/something tapped her on her shoulder for a fourth time. At this point, my sister sits up in bed and yells, "STOP ******* TOUCHING ME!!!" She was left alone the rest of night and for the duration of the stay in the house.

When my mother visited the house, she woke up in the middle of the night with someone standing over her in the moonlight. When I visited nothing happened, but you could feel the presence of someone/something inside the house at all times. A very historic place, but very haunted.

When I was a senior at ISU, after I got done with my finals before Christmas break some friends wanted to hit the bars so I went along. We were all drinking and having a good time. I got tired and found a buddy who gave me a ride back to the house and I hit the sack. Got a call about 4 in the morning that the two guys I went out with were drunk and speeding down a side street when they lost control hit a truck, then got caught on a telephone pole support wire flipping the car over hitting a big tree top first with such force that the distance between the top of the car and the bottom of the frame was less then a foot. Needless to say they were killed instantly and I would have been too. Went to Vieshea a couple yrs later and seen their old chevy nova as a Mothers Against Drunk Drivers display. That was a reality check.
