If this team was 21-6 the last three seasons instead of the reverse it wouldn't matter if we skipped the entire month of September and a glacier was bearing down on JTS right before Thanksgiving.........there would be 61,500 in the stands enjoying their turkey.

Trouble is, glaciers don't move real fast.

Part of it is that the big 12 got rid of the championship game and thus had to stretch its whole season into that week or else be completely without exposure when everyone else is playing those games.

This is true. I was just referencing a time past before the championship games, extra game, etc. It's all about money now and that isn't changing.

And not schedule a decade out. How many times do we schedule an average or bad team that ends up peaking when the year we play them? Heck, even for FBS we need more Western Illinois and less NDSU and UNI. I don't care about strength of schedule or anything like that. Give us the fluffiest of cupcakes as often as possible.

Eh, there are plenty of teams that you schedule out a decade and have a much better chance of them being bad. Most of your current CUSA and Sun Belt teams are bad and are likely going to stay bad even a decade out. I mean its not like we ever should have thought that about Toledo. Theyve had bad years but theyve also had 9+ wins in half the years since 2000.

Unlike those two conferences the MAC didnt get poached during realignment. CUSA and Sun Belt had to reload losses with some pretty bad teams.

Who would we schedule? Sometimes we get beat by FCS schools or MAC schools.

Pretty much what alarson said. Not top notch FCS schools or MAC schools picked towards the top of their conference. Yes ISU should beat them anyway, but since we're not...time to schedule even worse programs. Western Illinois again or North Texas level teams would be good starts. This football program doesn't need challenges early in the year, it needs W's and practice/confidence heading into the grinder that is the Big 12 conference schedule round robin. 1-2 record going into conference play isn't making anyone in Ames feel good. 1-3 if we manage to lose to KU (totally within the realm of possibility at this point) and this program will be at the absolute rock bottom in modern Cyclone fb history. We have to get schedules that will result in 2-1 nonconf being worst case scenario and 3-0 when it's not 2-1.

So, in other words, we need to schedule teams more like .............. us.

Yeah pretty much.

I was at the Toledo game and there is no reason why that school should be better than us. Campus was new looking and nice, their fans were nice, but their stadium/facilities were pretty bad and made Jack Trice/our weight room look like the Taj Mahal. Wish we could convince their good players to transfer here and have 62K cheering them on Saturdays.

lots of teams go to these types of locales. Okie St opened up at Central Michigan. Michigan St played @ Western Mich? this year. I don't mind it. Good way to test your team in a hostile environment IMO. I understand the 'need' fore home games. With TV money the way it is, the need for those home games is not as big. I am not a big fan of neutral site games though.

screw this. We sat home two straight weekends--both picture perfect weather-wise---to usher in our winless team into November?

I have had to watch the evil empire to the east grab 99% of the media coverage here while we deal with ****** scheduling and await a clunker game vs Kansas.

If all of you think this is wonderful, then we'll see you at the home finale in November?

Should be a 60K crowd then

uh huh

Toledo was originally a 2-for-1, but the third game got scrapped during the Big 12 realignment, along with H/H against Air Force and Navy.
Home and Home vs Navy/Air Force was scrapped thanks to Pollard.

We get clunkers like TOLEDO and San Jose St........WTF would we travel to San Jose st? I have been by the pos stadium. It's awful

I attended the ISU @ ARMY game in 2005 and it was a great experience---was looking forward to traveling to Annapolis and Colo Springs.

good gawd Pollard. I hope scheduling Toledo was 'worth it'

China is just now getting college football going. Maybe we should look for some opponents there.

Pollard didn't unilaterally realign the Big 12 and give everybody an extra conference game. Also, there is currently no trip to San Jose State scheduled.
