Nothing. They like Scheelhaase and hate Manning, so their conclusion is that Scheelhaase should replace Manning every time someone goes wrong, even though no one on CF has any idea if Scheelhaase would actually make a good O.C. or not.
Well, luckily for you I think it's probably safe to say we'll find out his ability in that role either here or somewhere else in the future. As for me, I'd rather keep someone with his background and recruiting chops around if at all possible.

As an aside, I don't blame Manning for anything outside of his control. Sometimes players make mistakes, sometimes execution isn't there. There can't be many coaches more committed to running the ball on every first down regardless of effectiveness or the look the defense gives in the country, though. Heaven forbid the team finds itself without a future NFL lead back to make it passable. I did a deep dive on this last off-season, and on early downs ISU runs the ball an exceptional percentage of the time even though they routinely have far more success when they're aggressive and look to throw early and often.

I'll just let it go here though as I know it won't go anywhere. Let's just be glad Scheelhaase is here for the time being.

Tennessee is predicted to have one of the top offenses in college football this year. Josh Huepel is their HC, and he hired and then promoted former cyclone great assistant coach Alex Golesh to run his offense.

I hope we keep Scheelhaase for awhile too. But Campbell builds his relationships from the ground up.
He recruits great people
Hires great people as GAs
Promotes upward from within his tree or very close to it

Manning stepping up after Candle stayed at Toledo is another example.

No need to lose any sleep around losing an assistant.

Edit: Meyers the OL coach is another. I know some of you don't think much of him, but Campbell sure does, and that's more than enough for me.

the amount of trust and doubt that cyclone fans can have towards Campbell at the same time is kind of wild sometimes tbh
