Size looks great, structure looks great....
Ahem, that's what she said....
Size looks great, structure looks great....
On our way home from Sioux city this weekend we just had to stop by to see the new board....pictures really don't do any justice but I’m including one anyway from the south end zone basically backed up against University....just purchased season tickets as well for the first time....man am I ready for some Football!!!
A real scoreboard would be a million billion square feet.
The AD gave it a try but it was not a well received plan:

I'm holding out for technology that allows us to use the field as a giant scoreboard.

What about the wind? Wound that thing be like a parasail, or would the advertising weigh it down?
I guess it doesn't matter. Texas's would still be taller.

That rendering is invalid. The midfield logo is reading left to right toward the east side of the stadium. The logo needs to be reading left to right toward the west side of the stadium for the TV cameras. This is not a valid rendering until it is fixed. The AD gave it a try but it was not a well received plan:

I must admit, I'm a bit disappointed. I questioned last week whether or not the time and score, and the ads still had to be displayed on the screen, and everyone basically said "yes, but it's still going to be huge."
Well, half of the span at least is speakers. And then you have ad space and the time and score on there too. So, is the actual video part that shows the plays, etc any bigger than the old one?
I guess I don't know why we don't put all the ads and the time and score on the old scoreboard and use the entire screen on the new one for video?
I know I'll get ripped for this, but the actual video screen that will show replays, etc. looks really small in comparison to the size of that immense structure. It is what it is I guess? Can't really change it now. It sure better sound unreal for all the space the speakers are taking up.
Hey, all that matters is size, right?
Right?

I'm guessing the actual screen which shows the replays will be just a tiny bit wider than the width of the goalpoasts. Still not too shabby, but nowhere near what it could have been. As I said earlier, the speakers take up at least half of the entire span. And then the ads will take up another quarter. So the actual width of the screen will be about 1/4 of the span.
It's better than what we had, and it looks awesome, but it had the potential of being HUGE. But of course, you have to have ads in order to pay for the darn thing.
