The volume should be loud with music/announcer/etc. but for stupid **** like "Beef its what's for dinner". It could be turned down a notch. But crank that baby up for pump up music.

It's ironic that the people who complain that the volume is too high are the ones who get listened to the most when they complain.

I'm not sure what this means....or how it is "ironic".

To me it is casebook squeaky wheel...

Anyway, yes, it was too quiet. I could hear OK (50 year line, upper deck), but it was more like background music. Bottomline: you shouldn't be underwhelmed from a state of the art sound system. Today, it was underwhelming.

Honestly, you can never have enough volume for a football game. The louder, the better.

For people who think its too loud, bring in those little foam ear plugs.

Bold line is the solution: Send ISU boxed foam earplugs for those who complain about the volume and explain it with the line above the bolded line. Maybe send 12 pair with every season ticket or offer it as an option for more $$, something like that.

Better yet: Get an industrial earplug mfg co to sponsor the earplugs for marketing product placement.

Or maybe set up volume zones that have separate volume levels so every area is happy. I can do zones with a home theater receiver, so I'm sure it can be done for the stadium, but if not already designed in that's a costly longer term solution, although it shouldn't cost a huge amount to separately amplify extra zones.

I was gonna say... I was working concessions and the stadium seemed really quiet from the concourse. I just chalked it up to the fact that I was working (and not yelling my face off like I usually do at games).

Definitely too quiet. And i said this would happen in the thread about it being too loud. Will only be worse when its a game vs a team that doesn't suck and the crowd is into it an the speakers need to play over them.

I had trouble hearing it tonight and I think that helped suck a lot of energy out of the crowd. I knew they listened to the people complaining about it being too loud when I couldn't hear music when walking to the Jack.

Adjust the speakers. It has never been too loud in the lower deck. Making the volume lower for the upper deck killed the sound for the lower deck.

I had to struggle to hear the old system. I dont want the new system to be the same.

I don't pay much attention to the announcer during the game, but I do remember when they played the hit tape, it felt like I was in a movie theater. Sitting in section CC, it had really good sound and it seemed like I could feel the bass. But it does seem like it tapered off after kickoff. I will agree with others that the sound system is there to be loud and get people pumped up.

Here is Pollard's contact info for those inclined: Individual Info - Directory Information - Iowa State University

Totally agree. Their band drowned out Sweet Caroline. The one time that it was appropriate to play the song before the end.

Seems like the WIU band played quite a bit when there was pump-up music. They even played when our band was playing, but I think that went both ways.

That's kinda crazy talk. Unfortunately, JTS is not one big living room with Dolby surround sound. The giant speakers on the new videoboard are there exclusively to pump out loud music. Nothing more, nothing less.

Annoying old people who have time to complain also have no interest in the game enjoyment of others. They donate $500 a year and somehow think that entitles them to a say. "They'll thank me later when they haven't lost their hearing with this darn rap music."

Money talks and BS squawks. The people that donate big money obviously told Jamie the volume was out of control. Perhaps a happy medium can be found. I for one, am definitely over 30, donate $, and do not care to be blown totally out of the stadium by noise pollution. It is also nice to be able to hear the PA announcer.

I lament that the athletic department has thus far neglected to utilize the classic, beautiful sound of stringed instruments to enhance the football experience. They have stirred the souls of many far longer than today's gadgetry, and at a price far more sustainable in these difficult economic times. We would all benefit, emotionally, auditorially, and culturally, with a return to the classics of our civilization. Let us now e-mail Mr. Pollard, for the good of us all.

Way to soft. It didn't get the crowd pumped up before the team came on the field and it was just dead. I know it can be ear splitting at times but just turn it a little down not almost off.

I just don't think that music is very up lifting at all. It seems most of the songs are kind of a downer anyway and they are a little slow.

I too donate cash, and I think you are exaggerating if you think you were being blown out of the stadium before.

It's reportedly a very sophisticated system. Maybe there are adjustments somewhere between too loud and not loud enough.

You aren't going classical enough when your main player dons the hat of a cowboy.

Ok, I guess I imagine the team coming out with this song. Also I have no clue if they are wearing cowboy hats.

Although I think the strings make them sound a little whiny

I thought it was ok during the game, but the pregame was way to quiet. I was out on the field with my kids and barely heard the intro.
