You realize your statement only gives him credit for 3pt shooting and I guess starting two seasons in a row? How do you factor in the talent on the teams he started for compared to next year's team?

The talent will be better next year. He will get better looks at 3s next year. He also wont draw the other teams best defender. I think some are putting the cart ahead of the horse an a few of the transfers.

we need to keep a bunch of them off the sauce so they don't get suspended...

I don't think so dude. The guys we're bringing in are proven talents.

Proven talents in the big 10/11/12 and MVC.

Scotty will start

He is top 10 in 3 pt %
He is top 21 in 3 pts made/game
He brings more to the game than the 3 pointer as well

All this and he has been playing hurt for over half the season. People that think that his shooting ability is not important are crazy. He will be even more of a weapon with more people around him next year.

One thing about Scotty is that in all likelihood at some point next year he will get hurt. He gets hurt every year. If he doesn't start that way, I think Babb will find himself starting at some point in the season. I hope he's ready.

And yes, I think Scott will play a lot fewer minutes next year. He'll definitely be under 30 IMO and I think we'll see him in the 25 range. Babb will get a lot of PT. I think another good question is if Godfrey or Ejim start. I think they both have a chance depending on the matchups and how much they improve in the offseason.

Ejim is only one inch taller than Babb. I don't think that'll change the size too much. I do see Ejim playing more of a 3 than a 4 though.

FWIW, Ejim is taller than Calvin Godfrey, and Calvin is noticeably taller than Babb when they stand next to each other.

At least next year we will to have to worry who drives in the ditch, who misses a team meeting, who chewed on who, and will we have to play our football players since we had no bench.

Allen is the others dont have very impressive numbers. Dont know how a MoValley player is proven at this level.

Chris Allen (junior at the time) was MSU's best 3 point shooter at nearly 40% and their best on-ball defender.

Scotty (junior) is our best 3 point shooter and one of our better on-ball defenders.

Chris Babb (sophomore at the time) was Penn State's best three point shooter at 37% and their best on-ball defender. Note that Penn State is Big 10 not MVC.

I think Allen and Scotty will start, but don't write off Babb. I would think that it would be harder to get open looks at Penn State than at MSU.

Here are a few highlights of Babb.

I think it's Scotty over Babb. You can just as well write in Allen. It's just a matter of where. My hope is that we can just have Ejim play the 3 instead of the 4. I just think he's so much more effective there. I think our stars for the first game are:

Allen
Scotty
Ejim
Godfrey
White

Bench in order:
Babb
McGee
Booker
Railey
Sledge/Odunsi/Bubu
McKnight

Yes, folks, that is an actual bench full of, get this, players.

I wouldn't be surprised to see McGee start, just to have someone running the point that's done it at least a little.

I'm starting to think that Scott's ideal spot might be a sixth man gunner sort of thing, and there's nothing wrong with that. He would be phenomenal in that role.

This is how I see it as well. Fred has said that Allen will be used just like Garret is used so that says to me he will be PG. Scotty is too good to not play. Ejim and Babb rotate based on opponent/matchup

Pretty sure he was referring to Booker who did play in the MVC

I have a hard time believing Babb won't start. His offense is really good...but its his defense to me that makes all the difference.

Obviously there are lots of different lineups and combos that we'll run with next year, which is great because we'll have the flexibility to match up with various teams and create mismatches on their end. My guess is we'll see 8-9 different starters at one point or another.

But I see the average minutes shaking out something like this:

1's
McGee- 25
Bubu- 10
Sledge- 5

2/3's
Allen- 30
Scotty- 20
Babb- 20
Ejim- 20

4/5's
White- 30
Godfrey- 15
Booker- 15
Railey- 10

Obviously Ejim/Babb will get some of their minutes at 4, when we go smaller, and there will be some garbage minutes from a few other players occasionally.
