Sean Taylor dead at 24

Throws us back into the harsh reality that life is more than a sport.

I feel very bad for the guy and his family. This might sound callous, but if he's into stuff where he feels the need to have a machete by his bed... this sort of thing might happen.

Man how terrible, especially if it was a burglary attempt. Does anyone know what went on for sure, I have never heard.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family...I will never forget all the hard hits he has given us fans to watch. Thanks Sean, you will be dearly missed.

It's really sad that the media keeps bringing up events from the past in regards to Taylor. It seems like they are trying to make him out as a bad guy here and this certainly isn't the time for that.... IF it comes out that there was something shady behind this then let those other things come out as the investigation unfolds... You read some of the stories and it is almost like the media is saying he deserved it... Bad job out of the media.

I haven't really seen any of that from the media, although I've mainly only watched Sportscenter. They've talked a little about his past problems with guns, but that's the truth. Still a very sad day for his family, never want to see something like that happen. I'm a Broncos fan and it makes me remember the day when Darrent Williams died, very, very sad.

"Eight days before the attack someone pried open a front window, rifled through drawers and left a kitchen knife on a bed at Taylor's home, according to police."

A break in happened before as well? Why wouldnt they get some security. Sounds like a really bad part of town.

And the person who broke in left a machete on the bed. It sounds like it was very pre-meditated to me.

I definately wouldn't call Palmetto Bay a bad neigborhood... Just like I wouldn't think Eddie Curry and Antoine Walker live in a bad part of Chicago. I think it has more to do with people FROM bad neghborhoods knowing where these guys live and knowing they have money...

I agree with maybe a little extra security. Someone leaving a knife on the bed 8 days before. And I believe nothing was stolen on that day. To me it sounds like the person came for him that day and left the knife as if to say "I'm coming back for you." Bad stuff all around.

From the news I have read, they almost make it sound like Tayler and his girlfriend were asleep when they heard a loud noise. Taylor grabbed his machete and by then someone was breaking the bedroom door and shot at him twice hitting him once. That looks like somebody coming in for the sole purpose of taking him out, not burglary.

In any event, very sad. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family...

And the fact that the phone line was cut, so she couldn't immediately call 911. The worst part about this is that he had a one-year-old child.
