I listened to the new episode this morning. Good stuff, though the tone was more detached due to the content.

1) I'm in the not guilty camp now. And I suppose I'm with a lot of listeners here.IAMAIRBHG, I think you're on the right track. I have to think the prosecution, consciously or not, concluded that Adnan was their man and then disregarded evidence to the contrary.

2) I had been under the impression that Koenig was a month or six weeks ahead of us in her investigation. Now I'm under the impression that she's quite a bit further along. That's okay, but I feel a bit mislead on that count.

Thoughts after Episode 8…

I’m too cynical for my own good, and Serial isn’t helping.

Identity carried disproportionate weight in this trial. It seems pretty clear to me that the jurors identified with Jay over Adnan, and that was a decisive factor.

Humans are great rationalizers. We lie to ourselves all the time because the truth is too hard to take.

The judge’s instruction to the jury to not consider Adnan’s not testifying probably had the opposite of the intended effect.

Agree about this. When I was on a jury, the defendant declined to be a witness. It was hard to not judge him for it.

It almost seems too obvious that Jay is the killer, but then again this is a real life situation, so it's not written with an impending twist.

I saw where they are asking for donations to possibly do future series. I have really enjoyed this, so I threw them a few bucks.

I don't know if he did it or not, but I'm fairly certain they could probably get him a new trial because I don't think the state's case makes sense here.

I'm pretty sure that her investigation is completed and has been for awhile.

Here are some of my thoughts:

I was completely baffled as to why Adnan would give his phone up, then I remember that this is 1999 and not many kids had phones. My assumption is that Adnan gave Jay the phone and car so he could run around town and find weed. At some point, Jay called the girl down in Silver Springs, someone he doesn't even know and someone only Adnan knew so it made it look like Adnad was with him.

I'm guessing there is something major waiting in these last few weeks, because it just feels like there has to be more, especially since both detectives said that Adnan was the guy, no questions. Even the former FBI guy said he thought the detectives did a fine job.

Here are feelings about who did what:

I think Jay and Jen? did it.

I have no idea what their motive would be or why they would do it.

I think Adnan's lawyer (who had already gotten in trouble for throwing cases so she could get more money from an appeal) did not present the best case she could...then she died.

We haven't heard anything about his appeal yet. (He had 2 trial's, the first one was thrown out. He's had his appeal already because he just got approved for his final hearing)

Something about Adnan still does not sit right with me even though I don't think he did it.

Dumb question, are the voices of people interviewed actually the people?



I'm surprised Sarah didn't push further with Asia McClain why she recanted her affidavit about being pretty much the only eye witness alibi that Adnan was in the library.

Also, yahoo is now reporting on this.


In my opinion, I don't see how Adnan could have done it. When they did the route talk episode, they figured out at most he would have had 3 minutes to kill someone by strangulation. Seems like an awfully short time to make that happen....especially with people around.

Update:

1. Really surprised how 15 years later, Adnan is still super supportive of his trial lawyer who botched the case

2. Serial announced a season two thanks to donations and sponsors!

I fully expect this to turn into an Alford plea. Just like the West Memphis 3. Alford with the punishment being time served. Everyone moves on.
