Great, we have barely qualified for the Big 12 tourney the last couple years and those are supposed to be automatic berths.
And I'm very upset with that.
I will not brag ever about the NIT. Nobody ever starts the year saying "our goal is NIT".
If we keep McDoofus, which we have to thanks to JP's contract, that's my goal next year!!!!!!
NCAA or nothing for me.
Better get used to the latter then.
Nope, I've been let down by this program for the better part of a decade now. I'll never get used to it or accept it.
So you don't miss the days when we were, at the very least, a feared placed to play??? Because right now, we are the laughing stock of the Big XII!!
Of course I miss that. But in no way would I ever settle for that.
To me the disappointment started with the loss to Baylor(Big 12 tourney) and it's just been a kick to the nuts year after year from them and never being enough for me.
So 3 out of 32? Thanks for helping to make my point that WM's last team would have been unlikely to make the NIT in this day and age.
The old standard used to be if you were a "name school" (BCS school), a .500 overall record put you in the NIT if you had a good fan following.
No longer the case.
I can respect that totally, but, with this coach we will not even see the NIT let alone the big dance.
And when was the last time MCD won 7 in conference??? Oh that's right, we're STILL waiting for it.
I'm trying to come to terms with that. I really had hopes that with talent this year he could make it happen. Part of me still wrestles with how he could do it for three years at UNI but never once sniff it here.
NCAA or nothing for me.
It may never happen.
I gave him the benefit of the doubt this year but, once again he proved me wrong. I think someone said it best earlier......he's a mid-major coach, like Alford. He will probably have success again, but this place is not a good fit for him.

I don't buy the "mid major" coach stigma. Plenty of coaches know how to coach on any level.
It's recruiting...
- You have to get the recruits to believe in you as a coach and that you will win. It literally is street cred. There is just small window in today's reality to establish yourself as a coach and prove yourself to recruits. Once you miss you're done. You only get one chance to establish yourself as a winner.
- Next is getting the players to buy in to your game/system once on campus.
He had a much smoother floor team that passed the ball smartly. That does not appear to be our strong suit. If you watched some film of the old UNI teams they had team chemistry. Our current group struggle to run an offensive set against pressure. Yet the MVC had lots of pressure defense. They did not have the Big 12 sharpshooters though.
