I just happened to be outside and facing west a little after 8:30 last night and was fortunate enough to have seen the lowest, biggest, brightest meteor I had ever personally seen.

The sun had just barely set so there was still plenty of daylight, but this thing burned bright blue for multiple seconds before burning out. I was honestly expecting to hear a boom as it flew overhead. Just crazy.

Went almost right over the top of us but I was inside and didn't notice a thing. Darn, can we get a head's up on these in the future?

So that's what that was. I saw it and my first thought was a drone or something, but it was dropping way too fast. Then I thought a firework, but it stayed "lit up" for too long to be the remnants of a firework. Interesting.

There were several of us outside last night and it looked gorgeous. My wife thought it was a firework at first and I immediately said it was a shooting star. I saw one similar, but not as close or as large, when I was delivering pizza in Ames summer of 99 I think.

Last night was by far larger, brighter and closer. As someone else mentioned, I was half expecting a sonic boom.

Superior to fireworks, dog did not run in house and hok up. He actually pushes open the front door when the fireworks go off.

I saw it and thought it was a firework at first, then it kept going. Very bright also. First time seeing one.

I was watching a friends kids and we were outside. The 8 year old saw it and mentioned seeing something yellow and green. Figured she just saw a plane. Sad I missed it.
