But past that our contact tracing is nowhere close to robust or effective enough to tie the origin of recently identified cases at universities back through their history of spread. Plus it’s so prevalent in most places at this point that it’s hard to pinpoint everything at that level. I’d say that ship has already sailed.

Plus it’s so prevalent in most places at this point that it’s hard to pinpoint everything at that level. I’d say that ship has already sailed.
We’ve been having 50,000 ish new cases or more most days throughout July and August. We’ve had a non stop outbreak and community spread for a long time throughout many areas of the country.
The outdoor events are relatively safer than crowded indoor events of course, and I think the effects of those are sometimes overblown.
So the Ozarks doubled in visitors this year? Yikes, I mean it looked busy but not that bad. Branson was only about 1/2 full at best by what we saw and were told.

No doubt, it was important for you to let us know that it’s more dangerous to jump off a tall building than get COVID.
He's probably saying from a statistical and logical perspective (correctly) young adults really shouldn't be worried about dying from COVID19. If your a healthy young adult your exponentially more likely to die from an MVA as a result of drinking at a party than COVID19.
This is like a case study on human nature. If you ban the party at the bars the party will go underground...
Ask the city of Ames what happens when you start breaking up large parties and telling people they can't stand in line to get into the bar on VEISHEA. The riots of 92/93 (whichever year that was) is a case study in that.
Underground? They were quite obviously standing on or hurtling themselves into the ground.
That is a figure of speech.. most "underground" parties are not literally "underground."
Went to Lumpy's one time, never went underground partying again. Well, I guess I got drug to a basement bar in Clear Lake a few year ago. That a shitehole.
EDIT: Remember when I was 25 and Clear Lake turned an old happy joes basement into a bar. I think they had one 40 watt lightbulb working in there. You took your life in your hands with the drinks you drank and any booty call you picked up.

Dublin Underground in IC. I have been there a few times the weekend of the Iowa State @ Iowa game.
I know people who left the city when this crap went down, and have been living full time in their lake houses and working remotely. It’s a combination of that and people changing travel plans to vacation in a lake away from cities where things are pretty much normal.
