Just sitting here thinking(Probably too many beers in me)...But I'm honestly not sure when the next year will be when we miss the NCAA Tourney or have a "Down Year". Hoiberg does such a great job getting transfers in here that can contribute right away in a positive way....And I'm a HUGE fan of brining in transfers. Love it. Hoiberg treats this team like the NBA, as in "winning right now is most important" and not waiting around 4-5 years to get **** going. I'm happy with winning 21+ games each year and making the Tourney and seeing what happens in it. I'm not sure Hoiberg will have another "Down Year" and only win 18-19 games. I really just don't see it happening because of the transfers Hoiberg likes to bring in.

I think the key point is that any down years will be the exception not the rule.

As long as we remain in the top 3/4 teams in the Big 12 we'll make the tourney every year. Finishing third or fourth means we're in the 10-12 Big 12 win range. We should win between 10-12 non-con games every year. If Fred sticks around for another 5-10 years at least I think we have a chance to go on a Rick Barnes type run.

Either when multiple key players are either injured or suspended, or if Fred is nearing retirement and starts to lose it.

Or possibly if there are some big time recruiting misses, and I mean extreme ones where Fred misses out on all his top recruits with high school guys, JUCOs, and transfers. That's incredibly unlikely, but it could happen.

I'm glad that this is being said. It shows that we are now expecting to always make the tournament and anything less is disappointing. Cyclone fans are hungry and won't tolerate the NIT one year and field of 64 runner up the following year (#LOLIowa).

Having said that, are you mental?! With Fred at the helm, don't ever expect us to miss the tournament. His dance moves alone are enough to bring in any recruit and transfer that he wants to keep the success going.

FIFY. Don't get losing in the 1st round confused with 2nd round. LOL at Iowa losing in the playin game!

At this point in time I am pretty much expecting to go dancing every year. For the past 3 years all we hear is that the Cyclones lost 45-65% of their scoring, rebounding, etc., they will not be good next year. So far, that not only has been wrong, but it has been amazingly wrong. At some point you have to accept the Fred knows what he is doing.

I think Fred has a huge recruiting advantage. His system is tailored to the players..not the other way around. This means he can go after the good players, no matter what. They dont have to fit the style of play he uses. Opens up the options for recruiting. Also means that the players will be able to adapt to the NBA if needed. They wont get stuck in a Bo Ryan type situation where they are required to do this and this at a certain time. The flexibility CFH has built in to his system is a huge advantage.
