I mean if he plays sooner, and fouls at the same rate, then he'll just be out sooner, so basically the same. What's it gonna hurt to put him in earlier?

If you remember correctly, he struggled pretty bad at the beginning of last season, fouling too much and costing himself minutes. Difference was, there was no one else to play, so Prohm just kept throwing him out there. He eventually figured it out, and became pretty dominant in the Big 12.

Hindsight is 20/20, but in a game like Iowa, he should have been out there earlier. What would it hurt? If he's gonna foul, I'd rather it be earlier in games.

Yeah, I've stuck up for Prohm plenty but one thing I'm not on board with has been the short leash of someone who needs time to learn or get acclimated.

I am not falling for Lard being out of shape. Something more is going on. These athletes have been work on conditioning year around. I understand CM was absent this summer but he's been back in campus since school started. If he is out of shape that is on the coaches and himself. I just get a feeling there is more to this story! We can sugar coat and make up excuses, bottom line where there is smoke there is fire...sorry but I'm not falling for the conditioning bit at all!
I believe CSP was talking about being in mental/emotional shape and not physical shape

The problem is he has no offense, He can't replace Jacobson's offense skills! Maybe play them together with a high low post.

That’s not this teams personality. Again, if we try to adjust to him instead of him changing his game to match our team, it will not be good.
I DGAF if he ever figures it out. Love the guys that are playing well. I swear that some folks on here would rather see Lard get 20 and 10 but the team lose.

Look the guy is a big body, is very athletic, and wants to get in there and mix it up, which is all good, but man no team needs a guy that averages a foul a minute. If he would have started against Iowa he would have fouled out with 5 minutes left in the first half and just got them in the bonus that much faster. The guy can not change a game when he can't stay on the floor. He knows that, Prohm knows that. Cam just needs to make some changes to get more time on the floor. Prohm wants that as much as any fan. The guy has gone way beyond coaching to try and help the kid get his life together. Lard is probably not in the best shape after being away from the team all summer, and part of the fall.

Unfortunately the 'funk' that Cam is taking longer to figure out than anyone would like. Prohm will continue to work with him to get were he can help the team.
The good news is, we don't need the Cam from last year. If we can get 8-10 minutes of defense, rebounding, and rim running we'll be fine.

If there is one thing prohm seems to be about it's doing what he believes best for the people he coaches - not as players but as people.

It makes me sad we have cyclones who don't give two ***** about our players off the court. Thank God isuno1fan isn't in a leadership position at ISU.

There's some that were OK with letting **** slide instead of suspending players for the benefit of winning.

It gets pretty weird when fans basically just treat players like they're video game characters or something.

He had the exact same issue last year at the beginning. Prohm played him, and he figured it out. I'm not certain he'll figure it out this season, but I think he needs played to try.

We can all agree, this team will be so much better with the Cam of last big 12 season.

What in the absolute F are you talking about. I’m not the one clamoring for him to play. I want him to be well but I DGAF if he plays or not.

You have a bunch of people on here who think Prohm is for sure doing the right thing for Cam. These people seem to think Prohm is the perfect father to all of his players. They also think anyone who questions whether this has been handled well by Prohm sees Cam as an asset to win us games and couldn't care less if Cam fails as a person.

I think it is ridiculous to attack people who are critical of a guy who makes 1.5 million of our tax dollars per year and say those who do somehow don't care about our players and Cam specifically. We have an All-Big 12 freshman performer who now looks to be barely a shadow of his former self. It is perfectly reasonable to be skeptical at this point of Steve's handling of this situation. The results so far deserve nothing less.

Now I truly hope Steve's strategy works in the long run for Cam and our team, but Cam looks like a guy in desperate need of reps. We know he is not getting them in games and I wonder how much he is playing outside of scout team in practice. Steve also held him out of meaningful practice reps during the preseason, his suspension and pre-season scrimmages.

Now I know everyone will jump on the "he would get minutes if he didn't constantly foul" bandwagon, but he wasn't in foul trouble for the first half yesterday and lost minutes to a freshman who has very little chance of contributing during Big 12 play. I also think Cam looks like a guy who is trying to make something happen when he comes in since he knows he will get pulled and may not see the floor again.

I really hope this works out, because despite what Hines said in his article about how good we have been without him, and how good Jacobson has been, I think we have all seen our regression on defense and rebounding. We need Cam to be elite if we want to be elite. Prohm may have done a great job in helping Cam become a better man, but I am worried he has not taken a successful approach to helping him become a better basketball player.
