I hope Prohm puts Lard out vs Eastern Illinois and just lets him foul out. What’s the harm in a game like that? He clearly needs the reps. It’s not for him, it’s for the team.

If you don’t get why some are frustrated with Lards (lack of) minutes, I think it’s fair to point out that for all his strengths, Prohm does have a history of being slow to change game plans and rotations, and people remember that. Prohm kept running Holden out there and playing Young 5 m/g long after it was painfully clear Young was the best post we had and Holden didn’t belong anywhere near a P5 basketball court.

Yeah, that's what I've alluded to a bit.

Hey, wouldn't it be just hilarious if Cam went out there, got 4 fouls right away, but then was fine the rest of the game and had like 19/9/6 blocks?

Man, that would be hilarious.

To answer your bolded - the other guys have earned it more than Cam has.

I'm frustrated by Cam's lack of minutes but it's 100% on him. Right now he is being outplayed by almost everyone on the team. As coach Campbell says "Make me play you", well right now Cam isn't doing anything to make Prohm play him. And Cam is the one that needs to change that, he has all the potential in the world but he needs to figure out how to put it together. Until that happens Conditt needs to get minutes because he is actually being productive with his minutes.

Yeah, but like I said, it’s not for Cam, it’s for the good of the team. A few more minutes vs Eastwrn Illinois would probably help Cam a lot more than Jacobson. Which is good for the team.

When Lard played good last season is when Young was also in the game. Jacobson playing high post and Lard down low would help out Lard tremendously. But since we have quality depth when somebody is winded put some fresh legs in the game!

I withdraw my admission of a gotcha. This is great news!

It has been that way for years. It's quite astounding that you even thought that your tax dollars paid for anything having to do with Iowa State athletics. Very ignorant.

Unless you are running a high number of full game scrimmages in practice, you can't fully simulate game fatigue. When the players are on the floor in live games they are asked to quickly adapt to the configuration they are placed in and play offense and defense at as best sustained level as they can. Physically they may be in shape, but learning how to balance fatigue and performance on both ends of the court is why it is described as game shape. I would assume the majority of practice is broken into areas of focus rather than extended periods of scrimmage.
Good answer, and I generally agree. Not sure it applies to Cam as he has not yet played more than a couple minutes at a time. Hope that’s not wearing him out.
Still think his issues are more in his head than the rest of his body. Just my opinion.

It is also true to say that without our tax dollars there is no Iowa State University.

Yeah, I've stuck up for Prohm plenty but one thing I'm not on board with has been the short leash of someone who needs time to learn or get acclimated.

Prohm's leash on Cam couldn't be any longer than it is. He knows why he's not playing and until he figures it out he'll continue to get spot minutes

I agree with that. My point was he needs to earn it and right now when he's in the game he isn't earning it. You want to cause problems on a team, start giving someone minutes who hasn't earned it over those who have. I want Cam to get back to form because this team could be amazing if he does that, but even if he doesn't this is still going to be a very good team with SY and LW back.

Was referring more to Young two seasons ago. I know he had his hand injury but it was pretty clear that simply more time on the floor would be good for him and it wasn't until February that CSP made the decision to start him.

I don't know enough of the specifics on Cam other than what CSP has said in interviews. To me Lard doesn't look ready for a bunch of time on the floor. Hopefully we see that shift here over the next month or so because he's still been impactful despite the fouls.
