Were you at the game the other night? I was, and I watched him most the afternoon including before and after the game when he was taking pictures with little kids and engaging with his teammates on the bench.

Easy for you to sit there in "Nebraska" of all places and say he was disinterested in playing just because he picked up a couple fouls.

I can't wait until early February when Lard has figured things out and is throwing down dunks and blocking shots in Hilton. The fans at the game Saturday gave him a standing ovation, they understand the importance of him to this team.

Some of you guys will be eating crow when Hilton is rocking against Big 12 teams and Lard is pumping up the student section and his teammates.

He looked pretty damn interested the other night when I watched him swat 2 shots into the courtside seats with authority. Another time I watched him just miss a putback on a dunk, guy was a foot above the trim. He's so disinterested that he already has more blocks than Jacobson in 1/10th of the minutes.

You do realize that blocks aren’t the most important thing. You need these things called POINTS to win games. Jacobson scores those because he can manage to play more than 10 minutes a game without fouling out.

I like cam. I agree we will be a better team with him seeing significant minutes. Nothing he has done on the court makes me think he should be getting significant minutes. Cam appears to agree and seems to have thd right attitude.

I’m going to trust the person that sees him every day to make the right decisions and not some ignorant Iowa fan.

Just an idea here, but blocks prevent points, and that also helps a team to win.
It's up to Prohm how much Lard plays. That's fine, but your argument is ridiculous.

He’s plenty interested and engaged. He isn’t playing well yet. This isn’t rec league. He has to earn his minutes. He seems to agree. He’ll get it figured out. But to think he should be playing 40 minutes right now is stupid.

I think Prohm should try playing him early in the game. I think part of the problem is that when he gets in he is trying to do too or thinking too much. I think letting him play right away with the starters might help him calm down some. He is making an impact in the game when he is in but he just can't seem to stay in the game.

Considering teams have a 0% field goal percentage on block shots, I think its safe to say they are a pretty important part of playing defense.

No offense to Conditt, but we are in deep trouble if we are going to rely on him as our primary big in Big 12 play. Playing well for 5 minutes against Southern and Drake doesnt equate to him being able to hold himself against Big 12 frontcourt players.

We absolutely need Lard and Young to be playing significant minutes once we get into conference play.

Im optimistic that Lard will get things figured out and will be a force again. However we've seen this sort of thing with Prohm before like other posters have pointed out. He almost cost our senior laden team a NCAA tournament bid before he realized even one competent frontcourt player out there to play defense and rebound would help.

I could see this thing playing out where Lard can only get 3 minutes, things spiral out of control, and it becomes a huge distraction. Guys who know they are more talented that thos playing in front of them don't take well to playing 3 minutes a game.

That bolded part would be relevant only if said player was actually playing better than the guys currently playing in front of him. Show us some effort and good play and the minutes will be there for him. Right now all he does is come in and get a couple quick fouls right away and that makes it tough to say he's playing better than guys in front of him. I agree that Lard has more talent than Young and Conditt but if those guys actually contribute during the minutes they get and can stay out of foul trouble it doesn't matter how talented anyone thinks Lard is he still has to bring it when he is in the game. You can't just take minutes away from guys who have bought into the team and are playing unselfish basketball just because you have a talented kid on the bench who some here think should be playing more regardless of the results we see on the floor. That is a horrible message and you are going to create a lot more locker room issues doing that than you would managing 1 guy who needs to focus and step up his play to the same level as his teammates.

Throwing more minutes just for the hell of it because he's "more talented" is not going to solve the problem and it also sends a bad message to the guys who have been playing all season and not done anything wrong to take away minutes they have rightfully earned. Those guys are competitors too and if someone outplays them they surely will accept that someone has beat them out for their minutes, any competitor knows if there is someone playing better than them they deserve to play. Right now Lard has shown us nothing that proves he deserves a larger role. I hope he does because that is only going to push the post players we have to play even harder when they have someone else pushing them for playing time. It's just like our guard play, Wigginton is going to take minutes away from guys because he is more talented and if he's healthy will likely play better than anyone on the team. That's no knock against guys that have rightfully earned their minutes like Haliburton, Babb, Shayok, and THT but that is going to make this team that much better getting Wiggy back because those guys are going to keep fighting for minutes with good effort when they are in the game else they know they'll be sitting on the bench during key stretches. Lard has that same opportunity to carve out minutes in the post player rotation too but he's going to have to earn them with good play because right now there are guys that have been playing better than him so far.

Yep, Young sat out 4 games from 11/24 to 12/1. Then averaged 13 min/g over the next 6 games, followed by single digit minutes in his next 7 games before playing 32 min vs KU. He was playing in games, quite well, for 2 months by that time.

All I know is he had 3 fouls in 3 minutes. Yet you think he should be playing more but has not proven he can.

He’s played 31 minutes and committed 14 fouls. I bet Steve would play him more if he could.
