Chernobyl doesn't count because it's a mini series but I think it's my favorite tv watching experience ever. Band of Brothers is probably better (also a miniseries so don't think it counts either) but I didn't catch that live so I missed out on the excitement that comes from watching an amazing show from day 1.

ER and Law & Order made way too many episodes over way too many years to ever win any awards for best shows but when they were at their best, nothing on tv has been better

I still love the wire, have seen it all multiple times, but I don't think I would be able to get into it now watching it for the first time.

Similarly, I've never seen The West Wing, every time I try I just can't.
Have you watched Oz? Re watched it a year or two ago. Thought it was fascinating back then now, not so much....

I assume losely based on non-fiction isn't eligible??

My favorite show of all time is Band of Brothers then Mad Men
Was looking for a mad men reference.

Hard to argue with their list at the top end.

Yeah, Oz is good, but ******* weird at times honestly, uncomfortably weird almost.
Oz is entertaining but can be cheesy. Definitely not in the same tier of Sopranos or Breaking Bad

I would love to rewatch Breaking Bad and see if it still holds up well, but it's still my all time favorite. 6 seasons was just about perfect and they stuck the landing unlike many other shows which I think has to be considered.

GoT really botched the final season and it left a real sour taste in my mouth. Succession was great but a little on the shorter side, I wish they would have had one more season and played out the ultimate ending a bit more. I started the Sopranos a few years ago but stopped around S5. I loved The Wire, but similar to The Sopranos, I think the older the show is, they harder it is to rewatch. Westworld and True Detective **** the bed after a fantastic S1, and I really hope Severance doesn't follow suit.

I think in general, movies tend to stand the rest of time better than TV shows. I have no problem watching classic films from several decades ago but series taken a lot more of an investment in your time and sometimes don't do it for me.

Has anyone tried to go back and watch The Wire again? I absolutely loved it at the time but for some reason it doesn't hold up for me anymore.
I'm watching it right now again for the third or fourth time. I still love it. Obviously, the technology aspect is dated, but the processes and characters and stories are still compelling to me. One of my top five shows.

Replying to myself here, but I'm just finishing season 2 and I know it gets a lot of hate, but I love it. It's also interesting, in light of recent events, how often the Key Bridge gets mentioned in S2.

Cheers has got to be up there, especially with the seamless transition from Coach to Woody, pretty good writing there.
Didn't read the list but Frasier had some pretty good writing also David Hyde Pierce(?) as Niles was some pretty great acting IMO.

I had never seen it until about 5 years ago and have watched it 3 times total. Maybe it’s because the music and clothes were from my early days but I still love it.

I love organized crime shows though so, The Wire, the Sapranos and Breaking bad are at the top of my list.
