Notice is their best scorer, He has gone for 20+ a few times this season. Thornwell is their highest rated player 5 star out of Cola, but hasn't produced to the level anticipated. Carrera is their best big but has struggled a bit the last few games. Their defense will be smothering but I expext our ball movement to get them out of position. They will also try to hold the ball for much of the clock in hopes of tiring us out on the defensive end. We all know Coach Frank has well disciplined teams and I think he is turning the program around but is still a year away from going to the NCAA tournament.

According to KenPom, South Carolina will be our 2nd most difficult non-conference game behind only Maryland. Don't be surprised to see a low point spread from Vegas.

Don't mean to overstate the obvious, but I'm concerned about the next 2-weeks with an opening schedule that includes these road games:

1/03: South Carolina. neutral site
1/10: @ #17 W VA
1/14: @ #22 Bay.

With a home win over OSU on 1/06, I'd be satisfied coming out of this 3-1 for the 1/17 Kansas game.

This will certainly be a stretch that tells a lot about how good this ISU team is. I'm not convinced that they've played anyone that's real good, with exception to a decent Maryland team, so this should be interesting.

From everything I have read about them, and from seeing them play part of two games( Okie State and Clemson), they are a very good defensive team....holding teams to a low-shooting percentage. They are very physical, and seem to be a pretty good rebounding team. Three of their top four scorers are their guards, but only one (Notice) is much of a threat from outside.

ISU is going to have to shoot well, and get after the boards. I don't think Carolina is much of an offensive team, but their defense can make up for it. If ISU spreads the floor the way they can, that could cause some problems for Carolina, imho.

Does anyone know for sure if ISU is the home or visiting team for this game? I've seen it listed as ISU vs. SC, SC vs. ISU, SC at ISU, and ISU at SC on different sites.

I got tickets in front row next to visitors bench because Barclay's Center and Cyclones.com lists ISU vs. SC, which typically means ISU would be the visiting team.

Arkansas is generally regarded as the third best SEC team, behind Kentucky and Florida. ISU thumped them by 18 on a neutral court. The Cocks are expected to be middle to lower end of the SEC.

This is a game ISU has to win.

In the loss to MD, ball movement (lack of it, that is) and tempo alteration led to poor shooting...the clones were out of sync, and Martin will obviously try to impose those same sort of restrictions upon the Cyclone offense. Quick, crisp passing, ball movement, and classic Hoiball spacing COULD devastate and stymie Matrin's predictable wrestle & tackle approach IF they can (like Mohammed Ali) float & fly like butterflies and sting like killer bees.

I'd LOVE to see FM's typical brawling approach SO frustrated by quickness and speed that he suffers a meltdown of some kind.

Can somebody check? I am trying to confirm whether or not Arkansas/ISU was a neutral site game or not. :realmad:
