I have neither, but when there are subtitles on screen, I find it difficult to take on the entirety of the visuals. It's very distracting.

Same here I'm a slow reader so it's just like reading a book.

I'm getting used to the dubs, I mean the rest of the world had to deal with ours.

I really liked the dubbed series Dark even though some of the voices are terrible.

I am now used to subtitles. I agree it's harder to take in all of the visuals, but so much more is gained from actually understanding what is being said. Even if it's English!

Dark was really good.

The show is South Korean, so they have a very different approach culturally. I enjoy it. The show is addictive, in that, you want to find out what’s going to happen next. It does make you think about what you would do if you were in those situations. I also like the twists - cop looking for his brother For example.

I just wish they would have developed the ending better.

I honestly thought the ending was fantastic. With how popular this thing is, you know they are making a season 2, and I was afraid they were going to have him just find his way back into the game for season 2. They shifted it and I'm actually pretty excited to see it.

Binged it, loved it. *I just knew something was up with one of the characters at the very end*. (Won’t say due to spoilers.)

A lot of Stanley Kubrick vibes (eyes wide shut/mystery feel). Hunger Games/but with gore…. This show can visually take you to some very dark places.

10/10. Highly recommend watching this!

Just finished. It was very good. Surprisingly political with a strong message beneath a veneer of pastels and violence.

Binged it today. The characters actually represent some of the problems in South Korean society these days: gambling, debt, poverty, etc. That adds another layer instead of just “hunger games” style movie.
There was a documentary re: why household debts in South Korea was extremely high due to a lot of factors.

Hard of hearing watcher here. I'm only 3 or so episodes in and it's definitely interesting. I can't do dubs as I spend most of my time watching peoples mouths in film and in real life, so dubs mess with me real bad. Subtitles can certainly be a challenge, but I think much like reading a book, the more you do it and the more often you do it, the better you get at it.

Not just Korea. I felt like it was making commentary on society on a global scale. I thought the most interesting thing in the whole show was how everyone was there by choice. They technically didn't have to play the game, but everyone knew that basically they did. It was a thinly veiled criticism of capitalism.

Nothing wrong with that.

I just finished it yesterday, and totally agree. I also thought

maybe not really a spoiler, but the VIPs may represent some of the G7 countries:
Canada - deer
Germany - eagle
the United Kingdom - lion
the United States – buffalo

maybe I'm off base - I googled it to see if anyone else thought this and really haven't come across it...

Also, I'm pretty well known in my family for predicting endings of shows/movies. By the 4th episode, I told my oldest daughter (who already watched the whole thing) what I thought would happen - she gave me this weird look... yep - I called it...

It kind of reminded me of other Korean films. They're really into hypnosis and have all kinds of messed up horror movies. Old Boy comes to mind.

From watching the trailer for this show I think you’d like The Belko Experiment if you like the battle royale thing. Also the original Battle Royale was a Japanese film I think.

I also enjoyed this show a lot.... and thought the ending was awesome too.

They totally left it off where there could be another season.... and I would look forward to it a lot.

I've really asked myself some tough questions since watching this.... and that's a good thing.

I don't understand why he colored his hair red, though. Was there a meaning to that that I didn't pick up on? It was jarringly red.

No idea... other than maybe he didn't want anyone to recognize him.... but as far as I know these games weren't on TV or anything, correct? So I don't think it's like everyone would know who he is now or anything?

I love subtitles. It keeps me from mindlessly scrolling on my phone. My focus is a lot better.

Finished it up tonight. I'll avoid spoilers, but I will say the way episode 6 ended almost had me in tears, then I felt really stupid for feeling that way after the big twist in the finale.

Some of the acting and dialog did feel cheesy at times, but I think that was mainly from the dubs/translations. Overall, it was dark, twisted and fun as hell to watch, plus gave me plenty to think about. For those who haven't watched, if you can get past episode 2 (which is the slowest) it picks back up in a hurry. Would highly recommend.
