Uh..refer to where I also said it drowned itself out. I'm perfectly fine with this thread ending because its obvious that enough other people also found it to be extreme, regardless where they sat, plus a couple posters gave ideas as to who to contact to ask about it. NEVER did I say I would want it quiet, loud is good! Loud to the point where it keeps people from actually making out the message or songs w/quality or taking measures to muffle it is another thing.
Mods feel free to end. Should have known better to bring it up. Hundreds of posters can ridicule coaches and players on here, and its accepted as their right to do so, but how dare anyone bring up a stadium improvement. geesh

Dude, you said “Or”… in regards to drowning itself out. By reading your original post.. your issue seemed to be with the “extreme sound”..

“could hardly tolerate the extreme volume of the sound system”

If you would have just said our sound system sucks… I would have agreed.

So far this year I’ve sat in section P (SE corner) for the UNI and Iowa games, and in section A (NW corner) last night. The intro music seemed way too loud during the UNI and Iowa games, but I though it was not as bad last night. I do agree with the OP that they should turn down the volume some.

It’s too loud and poor quality. I think having the sound system blaring that loud leads to it sounding low quality.

Do you have an example of areas where it's 'quiet' for others? Good info to know.
I'm at the opposite end and it's pretty loud. I personally think it's stupid to blare stuff until the last second possible (editorail comment).

With all the stadium upgrades, the new performance center, the plaza, etc. it really is a GREAT looking Jack Trice. Kudos to Pollard, and the many, many of us fans for continuing to financially support this program. And the progressive vision of the future. Love being there.

My question is, does anybody know if 'fan comments' are welcomed? And is an email to JP the only route to express those?
So many of those in our section last night, about 20 yd line in upper deck on northwest side, could hardly tolerate the extreme volume of the sound system. Not that any of us could barely converse without yelling, due to the loudness, but several of us did think the volume was louder than even the previous two home games. Yes, it was multiple people discussing this and we've sat that for many years.

And before the bashing begins, yes, we realize everything can't be perfect. Like I said, we love being there. Every venue/business/operation usually welcomes feedback. And we really don't know if it is heard differently in the lower section, let's say on the 50 yd line, or on the south end, etc. No, we are not elderly, nor wear hearing aids. We had friends there for their first game, and they couldn't believe how loud it was. There are such fun things put on the video board, including music, that it seems a shame that the extreme volume often took away from it. Or actually drowned out itself.
Anyone else have the same issue? Is it the same no matter where you sit? Trust me, we like things loud, too. But this seemed overly extreme last night. If it was toned down 'just a tad' , are other parts of the stadium effected?
I would hope that this simple fan question or comment doesn't have to be construed as being negative. Just wondering others' experience. By the way, I commend a few mothers I saw there with headphones on their baby or toddler's ears...smart.
Go Cyclones!

100% agree. I sit in section K and my 17 year old son and I were talking about how cranked the sound seemed last night. Very noticeable and pretty annoying. More so than the first two games. It needs toned down a notch for sure.

It appears that MOST posters agreed with you, at least to some degree.

Silent majority and all that.

It varies at each stadium, i just know it exists.

U2 at Soldier Field 2017. Second level speakers about 2/3's of the way down the field. The show sounded exquisite and powerful.

It is not the size of the PA, it is the amplification that causes "awful" sound. Overdriving the amplifiers to produce maximum loudness will cause a huge spike in distortion.

The PA U2 used could easily be hauled by 2 tractor/trailers. The stadium was bursting with clean, deep, and clear music.

You hit the nail on the head when comparing lower bowl to upper bowl in the second half of your post. I recommend editing, “I don’t see how anybody can possibly think our PA is not loud.”
I should add though we spent the 4th quarter with friends in section 30 right on the South 20 yard line. It still seemed annoyingly loud but it seemed not quite as bad. It could be part getting used to it and part being in the lower bowl.

It is loud, but JFC people, it's a football game, not an opera. Only complaint is herding everyone on the west side and some on the east side into a funnel going north. They need a walk and stairs like at Hilton for people to exit the upper deck.
It’s not really the loudness or decibel level. It’s how grating the PA and some of the music is that makes the sound system sound bad. I was at the “on to Cincinnati” Monday night game at KC that was supposedly the loudest NFL game. I don’t know that it isn’t very scientific, but that was certainly loud but not painful and grating.

Duh!
Also wind direction and strength can alter the heard volume.
Rain is also an excellent conductor of sound. :jimlad:

I am lower level and don’t think it’s too loud. Maybe it’s louder in the upper level where it is more on level with the video board and speakers. I also wouldn’t say the Jack is out of line with other sports venues.

Im in row 14 of W on the 50. Its loud up there but seems an appropriate level for a football game. I do agree it seems like the speakers crack sometimes. The bass handles fine, its the treble that seems to push too far. Maybe the speakers and fine and they just need to work on the levels?

This is our first season sitting in the upper deck on the North 20 yard line, about half way up. The view is pretty good, but we decided at the UNI game that we will not renew these seats next year. The speakers are just too loud.

On Saturday, we moved at halftime and squatted in some unused seats in section 31 (east side, south 20 yard line, just under the upper deck). Don't remember thinking about the sound there.
