Do you think a kid would chose to come to ISU because of a 20' brushed steel tornado?

In a state with 2 major Universities... you'd be surprised what little things can sway a 5 year-old in allegiance... I do believe that. Also wasn't limiting recruiting to "athletes" Recruiting can also be in "recruiting" a new fan base- the whole gameday experience is what I am aiming my post at. Didn't say everyone would agree with my vision.... Just an idea.

Yes. A kid might not come directly because of a fancy exterior, but he will consider coming where people are excited about being at games. And the exterior is part of what brings people/public to games. I love ISU and will come to FB games as long as I'm able, and I'd much rather come to a cool-looking place where good FB is played than an average ho-hum stadium where good FB is being played. I'd hope that my enthusiasm helps convince kids that this IS the place to play college FB.

Could not be more true about swaying the allegiance of a kid. I liked the Hawkeyes until I was 7 or 8 but saw the light. My reason... no clue. It just happened. Thats what ISU's goal should be right now. Do little things that would sway the allegiance of a kid at a young age so he becomes a fan (fanatic) later.

Similar experience for me.....except I was 18 when I saw the light.

How much more of an identity crisis do we need? We are the Cyclones, who's mascot is a bird, who lives in a Pirate ship???

Lets do it!!

An idea of mine that would cost less then bowlin in the south (we need that also) and add some zest to the games. Is on the front facia of the upperdecks add those narrow video boards like in Hilton and wells Fargo. Ithink that would bring a NFL polish to a college game and impress recruits.

Ribbon board.

The one reason I can see this NOT getting done is because ribbon board is realllllllllllllllllllllllllly expensive.

Indeed.. depending on what they could sell ads on it for though, it might be a bit more reasonable.

why not a legitimate tornado siren like the ones that you see all over Iowa that goes off every time we score, or when the game is starting, something along those lines?? I mean, we are the cyclones.

People need to turn on an game and immediately know it's Iowa State playing. That's important in fan viewership and strengthening the fanbase nationally. Like pointed out earlier, turn on a boise state home game and immediately you know who is playing. Get a glimpse of Howard's rock and you know your watchin Clemson, etc. Etc.

Before people turn on tv and immediately know it's Iowa State playing, we actually have to be on tv. Step 1 is to get all of our games on tv. And real tv, not "Mediacom Connections" or one of these FCS/FSC/whatever channels that pop up one minute before kickoff then disappears one minute after the game is over.

Get on tv is step 1. Make it so people turn on tv and know it's ISU playing is step 2.
