Do we know yet the schedule of the team that he is joining? Is it possible that this league is just starting their season and that's the reason he made the move when he did. Just because it's in the middle of our season doesn't mean that it's the middle of theirs. If he felt this was his best opportunity then so be it. I can't fault the guy for going home to a good paycheck.
Which is why Dendy plays more minutes and plays at the end of games. :skeptical:

They bring 2 different things. Dendy is the spark off the bench and is atheltic enought to adjust to the game and Ham understands the game plan at the start of games.
It's selfish. If he wanted to do it he shouldn't have come back for this year.
As a firm believer in contracts, I don't care. It's selfish. He signed a binding legal agreement to play basketball at Iowa State University. He's walking out on his teammates, coaches, and the fans.
It's selfish and he quit on his team. Period.
If he wanted to play ball in Europe, he needed to leave last summer. When he came back in the fall, he signed up to play for this whole season. The life decision he made previously was to play another season at Iowa State, a commitment he decided not to live up to.
Ok, I concede that I have become the person posting information from a source that I am vaguely connected to, but I have a friend who is friends with someone close to Lucca and this is what he had to say about the situation:
He helped him pack today and he hasn't been happy in a long time and finally had just had enough. He wanted a bigger role on the team, not just sitting in the corner. He had coach didn't get along very well and he has had 6 figure offers on the table since he started playing for the national team in Germany.

I remember when Tyrone McKenzie "quit" the football team and transferred to USF because his mom was sick. He still quit the team. Noone gave him the 3rd degree for it.
If Lucca feels he needs to make a decision now or risk losing out on a career in professional basketball back home which is on the other side of the freaking world then he should be given the same courtesy. It's a life decision.
If you can't see the pattern under Gmac by this point, your not looking or blind. This is unbelievable. It is the coaches job to recruit players that will player here (all season long) for his program.

We don't know that. Lucca didn't give any specifics about who he was playing for or any contact info.
And as Gmac speculated in his teleconference, Lucca must have been planning this for weeks, and his plane ticket bought some time ago. Yet he plays, practices, even celebrates wins, all the while knowing he's walking soon?
Is that how you would do it too? You're defending that?
