wow, haven't been around for years and thought I'd check in ... a friend of mine said he's hearing the "Alliance" is a smoke screen. The B1G has been having talks behind the curtains with USC and others for -longer- than OU/UT were "talking" with the SEC. So yeah, some goofy stuff, but if there's any substance to it, if USC were actually flirting with an eastern time zone conference, the idea of PAC schools like AZ etc jumping to a conference like the Big XII wouldn't be unthinkable

I told him I was calling bs on the whole idea, but I will say this, Years ago, he got me a spot in the north end zone (in front of the band)? I just about filled my pants when they hit the drums at kickoff. Another time, about 6 months before Eustachy crashed? he let it slip that BVDV would make sure Larry was toast.

I guess at this point nothing would surprise me.

Gotta get back to the grands. maybe I'll stop back in a couple years again.

Go Cyclones!

Sign me up to fall under the cloud to be overshadowed by Iowa in the BIG.
ISU won’t be overshadowed by Iowa. There’s nothing special about Iowa. People don’t give a **** about them nationally. In a sport where coaching continuity is incredibly valuable they have had two coaches that were good enough to win but stick around for over four decades. That is the entirety of their success, which is winning an average of 7.5 games/year.

Not exactly sure.
I do not care whatsoever about any cloud, B1G membership would mean stability and much more money than we ever made in the B12, much less a reconstituted B12 w/o OU/Texas. I mean, just win and it'll be fine, your hok friends are gonna feel that way no matter what anyway.
Not even concerned about more money, stability is the first key, and hopefully making similar amounts at least. The rest is a bonus.

What we need to recognize is that we only have two choices. Fight to reconstitute the Big 8/12 or beg to join the B1G and fall under the cloud of the U of Iowa. To them we will always be the little irritating child that needs to be ignored. If this is what you want, than so be it. If we join with them we will lose our uniqueness and look like Texas vs Texas A&M-Texas Tech, Oklahoma vs Oklahoma State, and Kansas vs Kansas State. Which is considered best and which only a shadow.

Conferences and memberships have always been fluid. Remember that ISU was once part of the Missouri Valley, a conference that still exists, though with totally different membership from when we belonged.

What about Cal and UCLA? Or Arizona and Arizona State? Does one or the other do the irritating little child role?

What about the University of Ohio versus THE Ohio State? Or the University of Louisiana versus LSU? Which is the big boy and which is the child?

Or maybe, instead of fighting it out with the big boys, would you prefer to be in some ******** conference like Missouri State University and Texas State University?

Anyone who wouldn't be enthusiastically behind an invite from the B1G under the current circumstances just doesn't know the stakes of being demoted to a non-Power conference.
