I won't buy that it's Kelly until the press conference happens. The AD made it pretty clear he wanted someone with more of a defensive background. This is not Brian Kelly.

A family friend who played at oklahoma in 97-99 and dad played there in the 60's and is a pretty big donor now were told that ND and Stoops were to meet on Tuesaday. That is all they have heard, nothing more nothing less. They don't think it will amount to anything.

I love this time of year. People starting throwing stuff at the wall and see what sticks. Then the people that get the stuff to stick try to convince us they had inside sources and knew the whole time.

Mike Stoops will be the next coach at Iowa State... take it to the bank.

Marty Tirrell - circa Dec 2008.

As a very open Notre Dame fan, I would love Bob Stoops to be the new coach!

I seriously doubt this.

A. "He signed the contract today", thats a red flag since most contracts are negotiated to every finite detail. For example, CPR got the ISU job last December, but even he didn't sign his contract until it was finalized this summer.

B. To steal a line from All The President's Men, when did Bleacher Report suddenly get the monopoly on wisdom. I would think ESPN, The Chicago Tribune, The Daily Oklahoman, all the TV Stations in South Bend & Oklahoma City, and all the Notre Dame & OU websites would at least have something similar

Welcome to the silly season for college football.

He could however, sign an initial agreement that covers the rough stuff with finite details to be signed on later, could he not?

Sure. Did he also sign an agreement with the bleacher report stating that they are the only ones allowed to cover the story?

Aren't these the same guys who said Mr. Intramurals and his 10 win guarantee were out of Boulder?

Yes but then covered by saying the AD couldn't find anyone to replace him. They have been right much more than they have been wrong.

Even if this is true and Stoops is going to ND. He would not sign the paperwork like the story claims. Some coaches wait 6 months to a year while attorneys go over the paper work. So them claiming he already put his name on the paper is rediculous. Not only that it would be a verbal agreement and Stoops would tell the Sooner AD before he would sign paperwork.
