Moved them from the NE corner/side to the SE corner next to the Sukup endzone. Moved them away from the band which is still in the North endzone. Overall I believe it has made the stadium quieter.

Basically the pushed them back and up instead of along the sides. The reasoning was field storming and not interacting with the opposing team leaving the field.
Thx. I guess they know what they're doing. Right?

Yeah, not there anymore but it seems like moving the students to a maybe less roudy/loud place, as in bb at Hilton, is the wrong thing to do.

But what do we know?

Granted, our offense has contributed to crowd energy but we are now nearly done with the season and I for one wish the students were not moved.

They and the band fed off each other which I turn got the rest of the crowd going.

I get why we moved sidelines when CMC arrived. I get why we don’t want the students to rush the field where the visiting team is exiting. I get the band is set where it is.

We should move the students to the Northwest part of the stadium. At one point in the fourth quarter on Saturday the players all were dancing to a song played by the loudspeakers (not juicy). If the students were near them they would have joined in.

We can put visitors in part of the corner where the students are.

edit: corrected corner

I thought the WVU game this weekend was dead and the crowd was barely into it. There are reasons (5 losses, offense is bad, TV timeouts long) but it feels like JTS has lost a lot of its energy this year. Don’t know if that’s related to moving the students but it’s very noticeable.

The TV timeouts are brutal. Anyone know if the length of TV timeouts has actually increased, or are we just noticing it more?

I thought it was dead until the Hutchinson TD, then the Jack came to life. Just my $0.02, when the crowd has supplied the energy all year and your offense looks as lethargic as ours does at times, the team is going to have to give the crowd a boost

My two cents. Timeouts are the same but lack of energy makes them feel longer.

Several years ago I worked for a convenience store company and the pump topper tvs were just getting started. The revenue from the ads was meh, but the customer perception on the fueling experience, particularly their view of how long it took to fill their vehicle was improved.

We need to make timeouts a party and the student energy will help with that.

Move the students closer to the band and for the love of God please put someone competent in charge of the music. All the music. We play awful hip hop and douche rock all the time. It is extremely embarrassing.

You can’t really say the crowd is sh*t. It will be back. We literally almost never lost at home in conference play for almost a half decade and then started 0-5. It’s gonna damper the crowd quite a damn bit. It will be back. I’m not worried at all about it.

I would agree. The crowd has gone how our offense has gone (mostly poorly) so far this season, which is a shame because the defense has been so damn good.

I don't discount the 3+ minute timeouts that happen 5x per quarter either.

Whether the ads are the same or more they are likely here to stay with the new media deal. The networks will find a way to get a return on their investment.

It is up to us to keep the excitement going through or at least coming out of the timeout.

100% agree. I think its always been bad but now they trot out that giant 3:10 sign and plant it in the ground so you can see how slow 3 minutes really is...

It's here to stay and, in fact, will probably get worse.

ISU Fan: Jamie, we need more entertainment during media timeouts. Military Hero of the Game is great. Juicy Wiggle only works when the team does something cool. Any ideas?

I know the offense largely has been bad so the crowd is affected. I've tried to hold off on my opinion of moving the student section until later in the year to really see how big of a difference it makes. After 6 games, I can say that it makes a difference in a negative way and it really sucks. I get the why's behind the change but the negative impact on the atmosphere the move has made can't be hidden.

Can someone explain to me what a TV Timeout for a commercial is when we're on ESPN+ and all I'm seeing at the gamewatch bar is a blank screen saying their is a commercial break?
