If your trying to get people to work on Saturday, you need to make it worth their while. I’m assuming these people have other jobs and do this in the side. So they have a choice to either enjoy their weekend or work on Saturday and make money. The trade off needs to be worth it if labor is hard to find. And it doesn’t sound like thw Trade off is worth it for enough people to fill all positions.

I guess I don't understand that if you only have 3 bartenders, why not have three lines formed with three rope stanchions to keep it orderly. Letting everyone circle the area and yell at the bartenders for attention is poor management.

I also noted in this first year of non-cash, there is a default tip of 18% when they turn the payment device towards you. Noice!


Is this the same company that makes concession lines perpendicular to the flow of traffic on the concourse so that everyone is constantly having to cross in front of others?

Roped lines with kiosks away from the counter makes so much sense. It will never catch on.

May I suggest BYOB like the rest of us that don't pay more money for the worst seats in the stadium? I'd also assume the tips working Sukup during the game is more than worth it, $8 an hour to bartend is good pay.

W-2's for low wage plus tips employees allocate a percentage of assumed tips to have FICA(SS employee deduction) to be calculated. This increases the individual to accrue more SS than from just their wages.

In the long run, it will increase their SS monthly calculation when that comes into play.

The large circle bar with only 3 bartenders doesn't work. I personally stood right up to the bar at the beginning of half-time and missed six minutes of the 3rd quarter before I got served. Either have more bartenders or lines starting at the card readers. 3 bartenders have no way of knowing who is next and to stand there and think it has got to be me next, only to wait another half an hour plus, is frustrating. Still tipped the bartender. It wasn't his fault. But come management, this is the same problem every year. Get more help in there!

Hell that set up doesn't hardly work for Niang Trivia night, can't imagine the cluster f*ck it would be for a FB game. Drop the AD a email they care about the customer experience.:rolleyes::rolleyes::D:D

It's been like this since day 1 in there. Fastest beers are at the side concession stands but they also messed around and got rid of cans there this year. I've said it before and it's obvious, Pollard absolutely hates selling beer in the games. It's ridiculous. They have the same number of workers in there as every other year, Pollard really needs to lighten up on the crap about people not wanting to work and just own his f ups.

Levy Restaurants runs Sukup. Blame them.

Levy Restaurants is who you want to blame for Sukup staffing just fyi. Not JP or the athletics department.
Pretty sure the AD is allowed to stipulate requirements for anyone they contract out with. If the AD is contracting out with a poor company, that's on the AD as well.

They just need to do away with bartenders and have a serve yourself taps.

Went to a place like this in Minneapolis. They had about 100 beers on tap and you got a prepaid card and paid by the ounce. Was pretty cool to try a bunch of different beers. The place had someone helping people load their cards and another changing beer lines. 2 people for the entire bar.

Does anybody like our AD? Hard to tell anymore.
A lot of the changes and decisions Pollard has made this year are necessary to move toward a modern experience for the fans. The execution of these decisions has been less than great.

There must be a reason for him not wanting to sell alcohol at events, but that reason is absolutely beyond me and I can't figure out why you're passing up easy money. He's never been really clear as far as I recall about his decision which makes it even more frustrating.

Downtown Ames has had this with wine for years - Della Viti on Main St. They also have a bar, but it’s not part of the load your card and choose your beverage. I think it was the first one in Iowa.
