We once drove to Rudy's Tacos in Davenport on a Thursday night. We had some sort lame social activity with the Kappas and our friend Amy said their taco's were delish. We were baked/kinda drunk so we (not me) decided to drive there & back from Ames. We made it to our Fri am class but it was stupid. I dont get to Dport very often but saw Rudy's earlier this summer. That brought back some funny/stupid memories which reminded me how much I love college. This 50 yr old can still kick it with the college kids.

Kinda similar... Was driving to Indy from Davenport and somehow took the interstate to Chicago. Didn't quite get there but took me about an hour to realize the mileage signs to Indy weren't there at all. And we LIVED in Indy and had driven that route lots. Thank god for road head.
Opposite problem for me. Going to Michigan from the QC and didn't know you have to take an exit to stay on I80 after crossing the river. Realized something seemed odd when we hit Peoria. Had to continue to Bloomingtom to take 55 back north. I am now pay super close attention any time I take I80 into Illinois.

Was headed back to DM from KC on Sunday with three other buddies when it was still the Big 8 basketball tourney. We had partied pretty hard on Saturday night, so three of us were dozing for awhile until I looked up and noticed we were on I-29 north between St. Joseph and Omaha. Evidently we stayed left onto I-29 instead of right on I-35. It wasn't much fun cutting across hilly, curvy MO in an old Ford Explorere to get back to I-35N. The guys in the back were pretty green by the time we hit I-35 again.

Got to Lawrence around 7 am for an ISU/KU football game grabbed a case of beer to tailgate the gas station attendant asked if I had a softball tourney that day?? Got down to the stadium around 7:15 for an 11 am kickoff. No one was there not even parking people. My friends and I started thinking is the game in Ames today? We almost packed up and left finally parking showed up around 8:15.

Didn't drive to the wrong place but because KU football sucks so bad we thought we did for about an hour.

I had an interview in KC back in college (before cell phones and Google maps) and was staying with my sister in North KC. I completely missed the turn-off to get to her apartment and ended up in the west bottoms down by Kemper.

It was Friday night, dark and I freaked out, taking all sorts of bad turns and hitting dead ends. I ended up driving across the river under the 12th street bridge past numerous homeless people and what looked like a drug deal.

Ironically, years later, I end up working in the same area and know it like the back of my hand. I figured out that I likely stopped and turned around about a block from where I wanted to go at least 3 times while I was lost.

When we first moved to Wichita and were driving back to IA we made the mistake of staying on 35 through downtown and then not paying quite as much attention as we should have. Took a left exit on accident and ended up down by the downtown airport somehow. Thankfully the GPS got us back to where we needed to be.

After that we just started taking 335 up to 70 and taking a 635 to 29 route to get back to 35. Much less crap especially since 35 through downtown seems to always have construction.

Freshman year of college we drove up to the Twin Cities for a 7:00 Twins baseball game. As we were approaching the suburbs at about 3:00, we turned on a radio station and heard the broadcast of the game. We stopped, ate at a pizza buffet and went back home. The pizza buffet was quite good and was totally worth the 400 mile drive.

I drove to Coralville from Des Moines for a software user group meeting. When I arrived, I found out the meeting was cancelled. When I got back, I found the cancellation email in my spam folder.

Forgive me for laughing out loud at this one.
Iowa State is having all kinds of wireless, hardware, connection, etc. issues this semester. Yep, no one could have foreseen many thousands of people returning to campus each with multiple wireless devices. Could the powers that be at least allow us dedicated and mostly underpaid employees a direct route to our technology needs? I'm thinking we're more on the "ignore" list because we're not the all-important students.
