It's already a half hour in, so I think we'll wait a day and watch it on Xstream...unless we will be able to watch it on CBS All-Access.

I think Xander finishes 3rd. My gut says Erica wins but we'll see how final tribal goes

My opinion is only strengthened listening to final. Erica wins, Xander third.

Xander is just such a ******* idiot, the absolute no brainer to take to final was Heather and he put her in the fire challenge. I don't think he'd have beat DeShawn unless the jury is more spiteful than they appear.

Went how I thought it would.

Fitting that on a season full of poor gameplay and uninspiring players, a mediocre player wins because a nimrod brought her along rather than a worse player. In the land of the blind, the one eyed woman is queen.

I did think that Xander played the best overall game, but not the best social game. I wonder if Xander had beat Erika in the fire challenge if he would have won.

Can't help but notice your singature. Wins in 19,20,21. I guess the only thing left in NFL survivor in 22. ;)

I'm OK with Erica winning as she played pretty well too but I thought Xander played a better game than she did. Xander probably made a mistake not making her build fire but he had a good point that had he choose her to do that and she won it would have just added another thing to her resume too. This season was so weird and a bit of a letdown actually as this may have been the dumbest cast they ever had. During the after-show portion a few times I just wanted to say "shut up!" when some of them got long winded. Liana especially one time felt like she talked for at least 3 minutes straight and said the same thing about 3 times over.

Looks like season 42 going to be a lot of the same twists as 41. It's already been shot I'm sure so any of the negative feedback that the viewers were probably saying about this season was too late to make adjustments to how they did 42 so I expect a lot of the same twists and woke moments coming again. Hopefully the next cast is a little smarter but seems like Jeff Probst may be trying to insert himself and his own agenda into the show more now which I hope doesn't ruin what has a been a pretty good run for a show.

Was surprised Xander didn't win. Happy for Erica, she played a solid game. Agree this year's players overall were relatively weak. Not sure I liked them doing the reveal and aftershow right there on the spot, I kind of like seeing everyone after time has passed and how much they've changed physically from the show.

Some of you Xander folks need to explain yourselves. The man was carried to the final 5. The reason he never felt he needed to use his idol is nobody viewed him as a big enough threat to force him to. Ozzie wasn't exactly a genius but even his strategic gameplay was quite a bit better than Xander's.

I mean his "big move" was not giving Ricard an idol which would have been the single dumbest move in the history of Survivor had he done it.

His problem was always going to be the fact that he was routinely on the wrong side of votes. That tells me you're having the game dictated to you rather than directing the game. So his only chance of winning was to surround himself with either unlikeable people or people who contributed even less than he did.

I think the after show was done that way because at the time they filmed the season it was unknown what the COVID situation was going to be at this point if they could even do a live finale in LA. Probably the right call as California has usually had some of the most restrictive COVID policies (not getting political here just a fact) during the pandemic so they probably wanted to just do it then instead of risk having to do the reveal and after show without an audience or doing it virtually.

How was he carried? Early on there was a lot of talk of getting rid of him and he maneuvered his way out of that a few times. He had an idol everyone knew about and they never forced him to use it sooner and he won immunity at key times. Thought he was smart keeping Ricard around as long as he could as his "shield" because he was right, without Ricard he was the next biggest threat. He probably could have worked on the social game a bit more but he did have some pretty good relationships with the people he needed around him to keep the target off his back and keep him in the game.

To me just felt like he actually earned his way to the end more than Erica did as Erica was on the bottom a lot and her goto move was basically to agree to vote for whoever she was told to for awhile until she got into a situation much like Xander where she was on the right side of the numbers. Not downplaying her game, I thought she was deserving I just thought Xander was more deserving. Had the jury somehow voted for Deshawn to win that may have been the breaking point for me to wonder how much longer this show has life to it because he played such an erratic and emotional game I didn't even see how he had much of a resume to stand on at the end. I thought that vote was going to go 4-3-1 with Deshawn getting the 1 vote and it appears Xander didn't get a single vote which was surprising.

Before the merge he had absolutely no power (and no vote) He was at the whims of Tiffany and Evie until the merge.

Post merge, here are Xanders votes and who ended up getting voted out:

XanderVoted Out
DeShawnSydney
NaseerTiffany
LianaEvie
ShanShan
RicardLiana
DannyDanny
RicardRicard

Shan was voted out 6-0 (after tie)
Danny voted out 4-0 (after tie)
Ricard voted out 4-1

He led the vote for zero of these players so even when he was on the right side it was only as an extra vote.

He had an idol the entire merge yet he never used it to save a potential ally (which he could have done for either Tiffany or Evie) or further his game. He might as well have thrown it in the fire instead. Forget making big moves, he didn't even bother making small moves.

IMO, Xander lost in the last episode. His terrible read of the Jury's thoughts on Erika and his decision to not take Heather really hurt him. He also told Ricard he might play his idol to save Ricard, then didn't, which ****** Ricard off. I don't know if Ricard would have voted for him before that, he definitely wouldn't after that.

His biggest move was getting Liana to use her advantage on the fake idol. But my biggest though is what did Erika do? She had an okay social game, but her own tribe wanted to take her out right after the merge. She flipped the results, but that was more to keep herself from being in danger and was more forced onto her.

Finally, I'm fine with Erika winning, but I hate the editing on the show's part. I'm sure she did more than they showed, but up until the final 6-7, she seemed like an afterthought to me. Maybe she just really stepped up her game, but the show didn't show her being too involved in any planning, more just following plans, and I think it takes away from what she actually did.

Xander played a better game than Erica, but I am not surprised to see Erika take it. Xander sunk himself twice in the last 24 hours: 1) He talked WAY too much to the jury about his social game/Erika. I think the jury initially liked him before that lame speech. 2) Not forcing Erika to make fire.
Had Erika won the fire challenge, she likely would have won anyway.... but Xander made it so much easier for her.
