May as well start this thread up now as there is already content dropping on it.

Found this one to be interesting today: https://ew.com/watch-survivor-50-cast-vote-first-players-out-of-game-exclusive-11881376 Looks like Rizzo, Kyle, Q, , Dee, Colby and Coach are going to be early targets. No one put Cirie which I find odd because she's played more than anyone but maybe they don't see her as a threat and maybe an easy vote later after some of the bigger players are taken out? Hopefully people see what snakes Savannah and Kamilla are and don't let them go deep into the game.

Going out on a limb here, I think someone from an older season wins this year and I also think some of the more recent season players are going to be big targets too so trying to think of someone that can navigate the old school and new school way of playing the game. I tend to agree with these odds as Charlie, Aubry, and Devens kind of fit that mold: https://bookies.com/news/survivor-winner-odds My guess is anyone that can stay under the radar early and adapt to however who is left post merge is used to playing the game will have the edge.

Also, does anyone think this could be Jeff's last season as host? It's a nice number to go out on so it's a possibility.

I'll be cheering for Charlie. There's a few people in this game (like Q and Emily) that have 0 chance of winning.

I'm excited for this season

Im hopefully that old school players bring back some of that vibe back and as much as I wish I weren’t saying it, I kind of hope Jeff hands over the reins with this one. This might be my household’s final hurrah based on waning interest the past couple seasons.

All that said, I liked Jonathan from 42 so he’s my guy

Hoping this season doesn't have a similar boot order to what Winners at War had where all the old school players were largely eliminated very early on.

I can't wait to see the dynamic from the old school players vs what people call the "new era", which is essentially every season post WAW. Like Colby interacting with Rizo would be a sight to behold lol.

I agree. I'd hate to watch the last half of the season with just "new era" players. However it's on the old school players to adapt to the changing game. They can't just align together and play a straight up game. There are too many twists and less loyalty than there used to be. If the old schoolers all get out early it's their own fault for not changing with the times.

Yeah it is going to be interesting because felt like some of the old school players on season 40 had a tough time adapting to how the players in the more recent seasons play. Tony won that season but he was just 6 seasons removed from playing. If you look at the 1st players voted out on 40: Amber, Danni, Ethan, Rob, Parvarti, Sandra, Yul all were on the earlier "old school" seasons so will we see a similar fate for the older players this time around?

I like Charlie, he got robbed in his season as the jury basically gave it to Kenzie because they felt she needed the money more based on how tribal went down IMO. I like Joe too but guessing he will be an early target as will some more recent players like Kyle. Some of the better players IMO that will be interesting to see if they will be early targets or find ways to navigate deep into the game are Rick Devens, Mike White, Aubry Bracco, and Johnathan Young. Ozzy, Stephanie, Coach, and Cirie I could see early exits for just because they have been on the show enough times people know their games and they will be easy targets. Then you have some that are either annoying or likely not as well respected such as Q, Emily, Angelina (although I always thought she didn't deserve the reputation she got) Dee, and I'm guessing if Savannah plays a similar style again it's not going to vibe well with her initial tribe. I'm glad her and Rizzo were split up to start and same with Kamilla and Kyle too as we'll see what those 4 are made of without their partner in crime. If I had to guess players from the 30's seasons are the ones that will do well in this format.

I think the old school players could do well. However, I think the same way you do, Survivor 40 just got out all the players early that had played multiple times. So I think Cirie, Ozzy and them are easy targets. Ozzy might do better now that he is getting old and a little less athletic. That was the thing that always got him and some of the other athletic people. They got voted out because nobody could beat them in a challenge.

Really want Steph to do well....the last time she played was HvV and James pretty much single handedly got her eliminated because he thought she cursed their tribe with losing immunity challenges lol.

Really enjoyed her on Palau and Guatemala.

I'm excited to watch the old episodes they are going to air starting next week too

10 'Survivor' Episodes Will Re-Air Before Season 50: Lineup

A little disappointed the oldest season being featured is 16 but looks like maybe they singled in on episodes involving players that will be in this season. Would have thought the 1st final tribal council with maybe the most epic speech in the history of the show was given would have been one of the re-aired episodes featured.

I'm the opposite, I hope she goes early. She is an over-rated player IMO and never was a great player any of the seasons she played IMO. Her first season her tribe lost every challenge to the point it was her and Bobby Jon left then she was the 3 person voted out after the merge. She was runner up in Guatemala but she only got 1 vote. She was the 2nd player voted out of Heroes vs Villains. Just something about her I never really liked and she had a few times where she wound up crying and throwing herself a pity party when things weren't going her way. Sorry Steph but its a cutthroat game so things aren't just going to be handed to you

Fair enough....I want a redemption arc for her

Ozzy's bigger issue is his lack of self awareness. He may be targeted because of him being a physical threat but it's his lack of social game and ability to relate/accept the majority of the tribe that makes him easy to vote out and hard to vote to win.

I'm personally over Ozzy. I thought he was great his first season. He has the epic battle with Yul, challenge beast vs. Strategic mastermind. But after that his persona has only gotten worse. He's acted like he should be given a free pass to the end because he's good at challenges. When his tribe doesn't just go along with him he throws a baby fit and says fine I won't do anything to provide for the tribe. He seems to think Survivor and the fans owe him something for gracing us with his presence and allowing us watch him compete.

Agree with you. The only thing that keeps him in the mix this season is if he's learned from his mistakes from the past and starts playing the social game better as these new era players don't really vote winners that were challenge beasts anymore and within the game itself tend to vote more emotional than logical/strategic. He's 44 now and hasn't played in nearly 10 years so he's probably not going to be the challenge beast he once was.

That's what is going to make or break anyone's game from the older seasons is they've been out of the game long enough now to observe how it is played now and think through how they could have played better the last time they played and learn from the mistakes. Cirie was really good at the social game but I think that likely makes her a big target this time around because everyone already knows that.

Based on who everyone was picking as early targets someone is going to sneak through the cracks as it's almost in their best interest to lay low early on and go along with anyone adamant about getting out who they perceive as the biggest threats right away. Then once the initial carnage is done and probably some of the more experienced and stronger players are gone then you find a few people to align with and make your moves while still under the radar a bit. Unless there is some new twists I can see this playing out much like season 40 did early on with everyone's favorite targets gone first before the game really kicks into gear.

Tonight is the season premiere - 3 hour episode so likely means 2 tribal councils. I've been trying to limit some of the teasers and interviews on social media in the past week so I don't get try to read too much into who may have worked with who. Jeff did some hour-long live stream at a party with the cast that I kind of scrolled through to see certain people talk then started to read into what other cast members they were with in the room wondering if it was coincidence or maybe insight on who they aligned with.

That being said this is the time where I probably won't be checking this thread until after I have watched the most recent episode as my kids like to watch too. Tonight is church night so with it being a 3 hour episode I bet we won't get completely through it until this weekend. Hopefully I can keep up weekly, last season my kids got busy with sports and then didn't want to watch episodes when we had free time so we wound up binge watching a lot of it and I wasn't caught up until after the finale.

I must be hugely in the minority, but I'd rather see a normal all-new-players season. These contestants all had their chances before. Feels like a rerun. I'll watch but just no real sense of caring who wins.
Overall I agree that new contestants is better. Given it's season 50 and the players that they have coming back, I personally am excited to at least give this a few episodes...but I also have favorites so if they're picked off early I am not sure how long I'll stay interested.

I kind of agree but coming off that last season which was a terrible casting job by Survivor. I don't mind this season with some actual players we know will play the game right and ruthless. I am over the people who are coming back for like the 4th and 5th time. Like Cirie and Ozzy. I would rather it be a second chance type Survivor with some of the better players over the last ten years that could not quite get the win but did a good job. I don't really care about some of these people like Ozzy who will probably never come close to winning.

This is my thought too, I wish they had chosen someone other than Cirie and Ozzy who have played more seasons than anyone. Tired of seeing the same people that have failed to win multiple times be invited back. I'm OK with most of the cast even if I don't like some of them like Coach and Q for instance I find very annoying. After they aired the Heros vs Villains episode the other week I want to go back and watch that entire season this summer. My kids really liked that one and they don't know any of the cast from that season as they were not born yet. I'm sure Jeff and producers have their reasons for leaving out people like Richard Hatch, Russel Hantz, and Johnathan Penner for example. I found this a good read of who from the 50 cast thought should have been on this season. Jesse Lopez and Carolyn, and Jerri were players that came up multiple times.
