I don't have any inside information, but the fact that Harris hasn't committed any where (namely Memphis), and hasn't really visited anywhere else could be interpreted as him waiting for something. Maybe that something is a commit-able offer from us...
I can back this up. We currently do not have a commit-able offer out to Harris, but the thought is that if THT goes elsewhere then our staff is going to reach out to Harris and say that we have an offer out to him that is commit-able if he wants it. He is 100% waiting to see what THT is going to decide

That would be a hell of a consolation prize. If given a choice between the two, I would have a hard time deciding.

FWIW, Harris provides a bit more of a safety blanket should Lindell ball out and go to the League in a year or two.

Still think I'd take THT given the choice. Obviously would be over the moon with either.

Chicago kids aren't really impressed by champaign-urbana. I say this as a former Chicago kid. Illinois sports is hardly talked about in the city, usually Notre Dame or whatever the alma mater is of the person you're talking to.
From what I’ve seen, Illinois has more of a presence in St. Louis than here in Chicago. Of course, I lived in STL when they were good (damn I’m old) so I’m sure they’re back to being 4th fiddle there, too.
Thank goodness I’m not an Illini fan.

Is it really all that surprising with a couple CB going to IL? He just visited there and 2 days later announces he will be commiting the same week somewhere. Most analysts would assume he’s then headed to IL not knowing other surrounding stuff.

Side note...Does anyone else have an issue with typing a post and CF page reloading all the time and sometimes erasing what u cjust wrote before posting? It is incredibly annoying.

Only about 90% of the time on mobile.

There are several D1 campuses that are as close or closer to Chicago then C-U is.

I never understood the folks that claim Illinois football and basketball are sleeping giants each time they go through a coaching hire.

Neither does anyone else, yet their fans continue to boast as if it's a foregone conclusion. Let em do what they want. Although, I do think they got a good one in Brad Underwood

Proximity to campus is just a correlation though, what you’re alluding to is alumni and natural fanbase. But yes, with Chicago being a pro sports town and a major city, you’re not getting the free agent fan simply because you’re State U. There’s not a culture of rooting for Illinois here.

Maybe it's just me but doesn't it seem kind of egotistical and self promoting when recruits show who's made their lists each time they narrow them down?
Yes, it’s just you, particularly when it’s usually when prompted by recruiting services and fans asking the recruit where he’s going.

Also this is the only time a recruit will have this kind of experience and leverage. Let me suck it all in. This only going to happen once in their life
