Dear lord, my daughter is IN college and asks me for advice multiple times every week. I can't imagine an athlete not taking advice from a parent if there's a positive relationship at all.

Legacy recruits certainly listen to their parent(s) or is that too different?

I have no special inside information, I just follow Illinois recruiting fairly closely.

As I said yesterday, I will be very surprised — shocked even — if THT chooses Illinois. Even before Ayo committed he had essentially zero interest in Illinois. With Ayo? There’s just no way it happens, imo. The rift between the two camps is very real, and I’m honestly a little surprised that the Illinois staff would court such potential drama but... the kid IS damn good. Shifty, big bodied scorers like THT don’t grow on trees. And he’s a Simeon kid.

Illinois made his final list: 1) because it generates more local press for his announcement; and 2) out of respect for the Simeon/UI relationship. That’s the extent of it, imo.

We’ll all know soon enough, I guess.

P.S. Expect to see some press and a lot of fan angst (perhaps even panic) about an out of state program like ISU “poaching” a Simeon player. It will likely be seen as a threatening precedent by more than a few. That Simeon pipeline is a very sensitive topic because it’s one of the few CPL pipelines that Illinois has been able to maintain over the years and across different coaching regimes. As some here have correctly noted, Illinois fans are a little nuts. Hahaha.

F**K Iowa.

Quality posts, you should hang around here.

One small correction to your post I have covered for you.

I just have a hard time thinking THT is headed to Illinois if the speculation between him and Ayo is true. I've heard speculation Ayo would even consider decommitting if THT commits to Illinois. Why would you willingly walk into that toxic situation?

Meanwhile, THT seemed to hit it off with our recruiting class and current freshman (Wigginton, Lewis, Lard).

I'm cautiously optimistic he is headed to Iowa State but the crystal balls heading Illinois' direction is a bit concerning.

A quick look at the twitter accounts of both of them, tell a pretty clear story. THT likes and interacts with ISU recruits, he and AYO don't even follow each other.

But, there are more factors at play than one player/player relationship.

Can’t even let me have my fun :/. There are people who feel good about our chances, whether their connections are real, I don’t know.

However, ask yourself this- if you think you are or know you are about to land an important recruit, do you blab it to half the beat writers, or do you just stay quiet?

Or if you do tell a writer or two, do you ask them to keep it extremely quiet so no one steals the kid’s thunder?

If you’re one of those privileged writers, do you risk your inside source to get the scoop or crystal ball?

It’s very quiet from the main ISU guys. Like hardly any speculation quiet.

Agreed here. Not sure what to think that we haven't heard much from insiders Chris Williams/Alex Halsted. Prior to Haliburtons announcement Williams all but told us he was a Clone. He was extremely confident with Conditt Jr. as well. Griffins commitment came out of nowhere.

If our insiders have any positive information they've clearly been instructed not to disclose anything to the public.
