Martinez is good, fast, and hits the gaps in a hurry. That being said......make him beat you throwing the ball! Play a little soft on defense, have your DE's stay home and make him throw the ball. You could have someone shadow just Martinez on most plays.
Centennial of Corona high school in California. They are a powerhouse program out in Nor Cal. Martinez Sr. year of HS he defeated the De La Salle Spartans in the NCS championship and a 15-0 season.
Make him throw it. Stack the box and make him make the throws. He can't do it on a consistent basis, but he is just a freshman. That said, he isn't Denard Robinson yet but he could be. Those two are a true freshman and a true sophomore. Holy ****. He also has yet to play a good defense. I still don't know how the hell we only put 13 points on them.
We had a 79 yard completion down the field to a wide open receiver last week??? Usually we throw it 5 yards over their head
And he doesn't have the passing ability. He has half the yards and has played about the same level of competition. Sure, Denard will be helped by the fact his defense is terrible but his averages are off the charts for the amount of attempts. He also has yet to throw for over 150 yards. I think once teams key on him and stop his running he will struggle. Same as Denard last year.
I think there was like a 40 yard completion to Money.

His dad was a Juco safety in the late 80's - Casey Martinez. Hard hitter and never really seemed to enjoy his time in Ames from what I can remember. Seemed like he longed to return to California.
Not saying Denard Ronbinson isn't incredible, but he's been incredibly good and incredibly fortunate so far. That huge toss to beat Indiana was kind of an 'up for grabs' play that looks better on his stat sheet than his play actually was. 44 yard, virtually game winning throw... that was 8 yards under thrown. DB wasn't even looking for the ball, Michigan's guy was looking, came back to make the catch.
His throwing motion may be off some, but that has more to do with his NFL prospects than how he does in the college ranks. He is a redshirt freshman, so there is still time to correct it, too. He is going to be tough to take down. I think we might need 8 turnovers to be the Huskers...

A NU buddy told me that NU's QB Taylor Martinex is the son of an ex-ISU football player and that was NU's "in" for recruiting the kid. What a kick in the nuts. If this is true we need to do a better job. That kid is amazing. It's just disheartening to see loacl Ames kids and the kids of ISU alumni choose other schools. I do not care what the circumstances are.
I have to believe that if true this has been posted before so my apologies if I am late to the party.
