I don't know, this TCU team seems to struggle on the road and play down to their competition. They let Minnesota keep it close, and they needed last second heroics to beat both Tech and KSU. They don't seem to be learning their lesson. TCU on paper looks 3 TDs better than us easy, but I wouldn't touch this line. I'm not convinced that they will stomp us as bad as they should.

I was originally planning to take TCU in the college football survivor pot, but then I got scared. Our football program has a way of coming out of the flaming dumpster and looking like a rose for one game.... then getting kicked in the nuts later in the season.

You are giving way too much credit to this football team. This team has won 6 games out of the last 29. They are 1 & 2 vs FCS teams in the last 3 years. They have 3 wins against B12 teams in 20 games. They have 4 wins vs P5 schools in 3 years.

Oh I completely agree. I'm not trying to argue that ISU is decent, or even anywhere near as good as those teams. I'm more taking the position that TCU has not shown an ability or desire or whatever to destroy a lesser team on the road. They won by 6 at Minny, they won by 3 at TT on a lucky play in a game they should have lost, and they won by 7 at KSU on a last minute touchdown in a game where they trailed by 3 scores in the second half.

Even going back to last season, they won by 4 at KU, by 1 at WVU, and lost at Baylor. UT was the only B12 team they beat on the road by more than 17.

This line seems like a bet against ISU is free money, and it seems like whenever something like that happens, Vegas has something figured out. This reminds me of the Drake hoops game a couple years ago. I think TCU should make this game a laugher before halftime, but I wouldn't place any money on it.

You people are easy marks. ISU will keep this game within grasp by only being a couple of scores down. They will tantalize us by looking like they are within reach of doing something positive but will Crap it away in the end and lose by 16.

Yep. Happens every time. It was especially bad in basketball during the McDermott era. I thought this was how every game was experienced until Hoiberg came along. That actually gives me hope the football program can do the same, but that's apples and oranges.

Hey Cyclones! Frog fan here. Flying up Friday for my first-ever visit to Ames.

First things first–––flight lands in Des Moines between 11 and Noon, renting a car, and heading straight to Ames. Tell me where I should pre-game. Also, based on the Frogs' road performances, please advise on where to drink my sorrows away, just in case.

TCU is a mess this year. We only had 5 defensive starters returning to begin with (4 on the line, 1 in the secondary), lost one of those 5 before the season (line) and another in game 3 (the only returner in the secondary). Of the 3 remaining returning defensive starters, 1 missed fall camp and the first 3 games and is just now getting back into shape, and another missed games 3-5 and looked real rusty in Manhattan. On top of that, the first two new starting linebackers have been lost (1 quit after game 1, the other injured in game 2) and one of our new starting safeties was injured early and is out for the season. On the offensive side, we've only lost 2 returning starter WRs for the season, and one that had missed several weeks came back last week. So, the team you see Saturday will have 1 starter from last year's defense and 8 from last year's offense. A far cry from the 5/9 we expected, and considering we've lost 3 "new" defensive starters, our defense resembles RG3's knees since going to Washington.

So, the plane with a giant red cross landing in Ames on Friday is TCU's team plane. Please send everyone back in one piece. Please.

On to the game. Snyder exploited every weakness TCU had in the first half. I'm worried about your stud freshman RB after watching K-State take 4 yards at will on the ground (and I'm dumbfounded as to why Snyder had his 8th string QB throw the ball in the third quarter). TCU's game plan will be what it was against K-State: have the offense score quickly and early and hope the TCU defense gets early stops to force Iowa State to try and play catch-up through the air. TCU didn't execute that game plan in the first half in Manhattan and fell behind 18 points. Then they executed that gameplan in the second half and K-State let us catch them, which you can't do against TCU's offense.

The game goes one of two ways: if TCU gets a couple early stops and goes up a couple TDs, game over pretty early (Tech-Iowa St type score). If Iowa State sustains early drives for touchdowns, it'll be a dog fight into the second half (TCU-K-State type score).

If you make me pick the score, I'm going the optimistic route (though I'm on the fence). So, Frogs 52, Cyclones 34 (late TD makes it look like a bigger W that it really was).

Good luck Saturday -- looking forward to this one!

You'll be able to relax and enjoy the game at halftime. That's when it'll be over. Whatever weakness your team has it'll not be exploited because the coaching staff won't recognize it, or know how too, and if they did the players won't be able to execute the game plan well enough to use it against you.

Enjoy Hickory Park.

You can hit up Hickory Park for some midwest BBQ (nothing like Texas BBQ so you know), they also have a great menu of other items.

As far as tailgating, I went up from DFW for the opener and was parked in G2/G3...great area, a young crowd in the lot, but fun. You really can't go wrong where ever you end up tailgating outside the stadium. I've even taken the bus down to the stadium for past games and just found a tailgating group that accepted beer in exchange for food lol.

As others have said before...TCU should take ISU out by half, so you don't really have to worry about drowning your sorrows anywhere, but if you do I'm sure some of the Cyclone faithful up there will point you in the right direction...just don't let them point you West towards the Campus town bars, unless you can take a lot of good ribbing.

As someone put on another thread...Iowa State tailgating, undefeated since 1975...enjoy yourself...wish I was able to get up there this week

Don't worry, our incompetent coaching staff will probably try to establish the pass first against TCU.

Funny.......the distance from the airport doesn't seem to discourage fans from coming to Ames.

Lol... They have done that once, in 2010, against what ended up being a horrible Texas team. There is a less than 0% chance ISU wins this game.

I see this game playing tight for most the first half (10-10) , until the 2 min mark... We decide to go for points before half... Sam stares down Lazard and makes an ill-advised throw into double coverage... TCU comes away with a pick 6 to put them up 7 at half.

To start the second half, Boykin hits Dobson for an 80 yard TD and they don't look back from there.

ISU - 17
TCU - 52

I'd love to have that "mess" of which you speak, 'cuz your team is still undefeated and wins are all that matters! Hey, Perhaps we can trade teams, OR, at least let us trade coaching staffs - then our fan base might truly learn how much our team's failures are a result of TALENT, COACHING or both. BTW, hope you enjoy your visit to our stadium and the tailgating - those two things are extremely enjoyable, even if our team fails to make the game competitive!

Calling your team a mess makes my eyes roll. TCU is undefeated, ranked 3rd in the country, has a Heisman hopeful at QB and is playing one of the worst P5 football teams in the country. You'll be fine.

I couldn't put them in my 4 game parlay... 20 1/2 too low to choose ISU and the cyclones will most likely make it closer to **** off the CPR haters.

There's absolutely no reason for TCU to worry about it's defense. ISU's offense will do a great job of stopping itself all day long.

Just for comparison, Tech vs. Kansas is currently at TTU -31.

Also, I'm going to interject here: Sticking with the Big 12, why in the world did ESPN2 choose to air our game over WVU/Baylor... or even Oklahoma/KSt... ESPN knows something we don't.

They know that the Heisman voters will get to Boykin put on a good show.
