I graduated with him. Always a nice guy. By the way no state championship that year, even with Chris Gaines (iowa's Mr. Basketball ), Anthony Thomas, Terry Woods and a few more great players on that team. Lost to a Davenport team if I recall correctly.

I believe they lost to Carroll Kuemper who had UNI-bound Nick Nurse and a big guy named Brian David who I think got a schollie from Lute Olson at Arizona. Was a great championship game.

Kuemper beat West in the '85 championship (77-58).

West finished 4th in '86, losing to Burlington (78-75) in the semis, and DM East (76-72) in the conso game.

The thing that I remember most about Terry is that they were generous to list him at 5'11". He was an awfully good player.

The first Iowa State posters I hung in my bedroom as as kid were Victor Alexander and Terry Woods.

Does CF consensus consider Woods a member of the All-Underrated Team?

Not sure I'd go that far. For every spectacular game, he had at least one or two total head-scratchers. Averaged over 4 TO/game his senior season.

Speaking of Woods there are showing a game from 1989 where they played Kansas on Cyclone.tv. Sam "burger thief" Mack looked good
Mack was awesome. The next year's team could have been really special with Mack, Baugh and Vic coming back. But in typical Cyclone fashion, we got a double kick to the nads.

Very early on in my freshman year, I took a ride on the Larch elevator with Terry and Vic (I think they were roommates). I was star-struck. Vic was enormous. Terry, not so much...

Dm East had Newby and Jason Reese that year. They were loaded. So was wdm Valley and dsm Lincoln. All loaded. West should have won it based on talent. Gaines was so good.

Waterloo West was loaded with talent during Terry's years playing there. One of the other starters was Anthony Thomas who was also a great football player. He got a scholarship to play football at Arizona State if I recall correctly.

Not underrated. There is a reason his nickname was Turnover Terry Woods. Nice guy and had good range on his shot but you never knew what you would get from him on the court.
