Diaz out as Texas DC

Just read per ESPN.com that he has been reassigned (fired) after his defense gave up 550 yards on the ground against BYU.

Espn.com-
Texas has relieved defensive coordinator Manny Diaz of his duties one day after the Longhorns lost at
BYU, the school announced Sunday.

Fake Dan Beebe ‏@DanBeebe 17h THEY SAY EVERY TIME TEXAS MISSES A TACKLE A BABY KITTEN GETS BORN THERE ARE NOW FIFTY THOUSAND CATS ROAMING THE STREETS OF AUSTIN

From Jim Carey doing Dumb and Dumber:
"So with the hiring of GERG (Greg Robinson), you're saying ISU has a chance!"

Edit: You think it was a meltdown here last week, Fake Dan Beebe is how to do a meltdown right. Equal parts rant and humor.

I'd hate to see how many kittens were born during the UNI game.

Newsflash: In a stunning move, new Texas DC Greg "Gerg" Robinson shows up on the ISU sidelines carrying a half empty bottle of cheap Tequila and is seen prior to kick-off chugging the rest and passing out. In a even more stunning move, none of the Texas coaching staff attempts to revive or assist Gerg, who is rushed to Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames with a BAC of .450%. Meanwhile, without a defensive coordinator, Texas stuns ISU 75-0 in an amazing defensive show.

Major Applewhite better start refreshing his resume. The offensive coordinator will be next. Mac is covering his butt and trying to buy more time.

Quarterback recruiting since Colt McCoy has put Mack in this position. Garrett Gilbert? David Ash? Case McCoy? Really? They missed out on Texas preps RGIII, Manziel and Luck during that time

Texas DC Manny Diaz fired, according to report, after BYU debacle - SBNation.com

Guess not everybody waits until the season is over to evaluate things.

Their wealthy donors were understandably upset so Brown could either fall on his sword or plunge it into the back of an under-preforming assistant. But Brown holds the record for doing less with more so I seriously doubt he will last the season. With a little luck maybe Oct 3rd will be his last day as head coach.

Mack Brown will not get fired during the season. No way. But this might well be his very last, even with one more year remaining on Dodds' contract, and the sentiment that the two should go out together. In reality, Dodds isn't calling the shots ultimately. It's those wealthy donors you alluded to. Would be nice for October 3 to be the day UT decides this is his last, tho.

Manny Diaz was a scapegoat for Saturday's debacle, if Texas falls on its face Saturday at home against Ole Miss, Mack will nowhere left to hide

I hope you two mean he gets fired for losing to ISU....cause playing teams whose coaches just got fired hasn't worked out too well for us recently:

That's about what I'm saying. I'm hoping losing to ISU will ultimately be what makes this his last season at Texas. He'll finish out the season, but hopefully we are the catalyst for his eventual departure.

Why does everyone want Mack Brown fired? That just means that Texas will probably get a coach who can actually do things with the talent they have every year.

In a wierd way....I never liked Bielema or almost anything he does, but I did like how he got rid of the O-line coach after the first game last year....things ended up ok for them (by ISU standards). Simlarly, not a Mack Brown fan and he should ultimately be held accountable, but I do not have a problem with these type of moves in a season. These coaches get paid a premium and it comes with the gig. Hell, our Chiz assistances made 3 or 4 times a year what most middle class folks make. It isn't rocket science and what value do they really add to society? I say make changes when it is blatantly obvious that something is not working and never will.....like when you get beat by Oral Roberts Community College in a bowl game. Or you gain 50 yards total in a bowl game against Rutgers. Or you score only 9 points against an atrocious Iowa team last year. Or you lose 7 of 9.
