Without even finishing p. 1 here, thank you for reminding me why I hate texASS. Good riddance and I hope they get what they deserve, mediocrity in the sec.

And btw te$a$, you may see things from your entitled point of view because of your place in the scheme of college athletics, but that doesn't mean the rest of us appreciate what you are doing to college athletics. Chew on that Bevo.

No they won't. SEC is so massively overrated it's not even funny (even though it's better than the Big 12).

No where else do you get more credit for losses and more clout for beating a ranked in-conference opponent who was only ranked because they beat an in-conference opponent who was ranked but no longer is because it turns out they were a paper tiger.

The reality is it's EXTREMELY tough to win on the road in any conference, and all but the super elite usually slip up at least once. But while other teams/conferences get penalized for those loses the SEC doesn't, because the victor gets too much credit (boosting their ranking) and the loser gets lauded for playing tough in a quality "loss". It's such a ******* joke.

I think Texas will struggle year one (much harder to scout all new opponents), but will have equal or better success than they've had in the Big 12 over the last 10-15 years. I'd put money on it.
That's the SEC East you're talking about. Do you really think they're going to get put there?

Texas needs to spend some of their money on therapy for their fans! Now, more than ever! Hide the weapons.

Texas will be somewhere between Vanderbilt and Mississippi State in that conference. They’re going to walk in, act like they’re Alabama or Georgia, and get embarrassed. Texas can’t even garner more in conference wins over the past four years than a program like Iowa State. Texas doesn’t need help recruiting. They already bring in top tier talent each year. That’s not their problem. Their problem is they have a lousy culture with no heart anymore. They’ve turned into the rich, lazy family member that took over a company after daddy handed it to them, and are driving it into the ground. Horns down. Texas sux cox ‘n dix.
That's just not nice.

The needle will never move to P4 until the B1G, SEC, ACC, and PAC are all sitting at 16 teams. Everyone is in a tizzy about what our status will be moving forward but ya'll are making all of these assumption based off a 4 team playoff. When all of this GOR dust settles in a few years the format will be either 8 or 12, whichever returns the most $$$$. The whole P4/P5 conversation is really pointless right now.

16 teams would get more playoff money, but the regular season viewership would fall off the map. Fans would be far less likely to watch any games but their own team in regular season.

8 team playoff has always been the obvious perfect sweet spot for these 12-13 game seasons and 110-140ish programs.

12 would be a mistake but still keep the regular season almost as good as it has always been, just not quite as good.

No #9 team entering bowls has ever had a legit NC claim. Several #5/#6 have.

they aren't wrong about the conference

if you don't think ISU is looking for a life boat out of this new conference you are on drugs
Very interesting to assess the negative vs positive emoticons. Pretty evenly split. Your patronizing aside, any/all schools are always looking for their best interests. And, as so many have argued on this site, the variables are too dynamic at this point to reach a conclusion. And, even more so, the period of 'assessing' the decision will vary widely. So, let's check back on your position in 5,10, and 15 years and see where things are at.
I think he said you were an idiot.

I don't understand the devaluing the regular season argument by expanding the playoffs. Halfway through the season every team outside the top 15 is all but eliminated from playoff contention. Right now every team outside the top 10 or so is pretty much eliminated.

If there was a 16 team playoff every ranked team and several unranked teams are still playing for a playoff spot at this point. Does it take some juice away from a top 5 team's game if they have all but secured a spot in the playoff? Sure. But there are FAR more games that go from meaningless to important in an expanded playoff.

I do think 8 is ideal, but I really don't think having 16 would be a net loss in regular season interest.

Trashy, fake-titted Texas thinks her man doesn’t treat her well because he makes a few rude comments but he still lets her drive the nice car and drink Starbucks 18 times a day. So she said fuckyou and went on to her next husband, looking for “true love” only to find out he’s gonna steal her money and lock her in the basement for decades and treat her like the wh*re that she is.
Oh, nice. I think you should go into romance novels or something!

The new Big12 will be just fine moving forward, probably 3rd best conference after SEC and then Big Ten. And, we won't have to deal with being held hostage like we have for decades.
Maybe on this point. the other things I largely agree with but this has a TBD ...

if Clemson rights the ship and I think they probably will - they will drag the ACC up to being number 3. Because it'll be one elite program and a bunch of 7 to 8 win teams.

If and its a huge if, USC ever got its act together, the Pac 12 would be in that position.

Could the new conference be the 3rd best? Yes, it absolutely could be. But its a bit too early to say without a doubt it will be. Strong possibility? Sure. But the race for 3rd might fluctuate year to year

If we are discussing the new B12 as "2nd Tier" in terms of a P5 conference, then yes, the new B12 will realistically be a 2nd tier conference behind the SEC and B10. However, with current contracts and the B12 negotiating their own new TV contract, it is not hard to imagine the new B12 as a strong competitor between the P12 and ACC for the 3rd spot (albeit in a clear revenue tier below the first two). I think that rights holders are definitely watching viewership #s and attendance going into negotiations and the new B12 teams have been competitive with ACC and certainly P12 this past year.

Although there will still be a revenue drop, the drop has been greatly overstated from initial reports and is now expected to be in the $3-4M/yr range which is notable but by no means an incredible setback. I think that in a "perfect world" ISU would love to be in the B10 as it would be more regional but this is a great alternative and it should be a fantastically competitive league in FB and MBB.

You think the committee has a bias against OU in favor of Oregon? OU has always gotten the nod in the playoff.
And WF wasn’t going to leapfrog OU if they both went undefeated. WF gets a ranked team next week then maybe gets one in the CCG. OU has OSU, Bay, and ISU plus one of those again if they win out. Committee already had OU better than WF and has a much tougher road.

OU has accomplished zero. It’s easy to say they would crank it up, but pick pretty much any week and take OUs performance and see if you think they would beat Ohio State or Oregon. So far OU is undefeated only because they have played bad teams. That could change, but so far OU is like a G5 resume. The Big 12 is solid but there are clearly four good teams, and the rest aren’t good. They have only played the bottom. Nebraska is a bottom feeder in a terrible division. Tulane is a G5 bottom feeder.
It isn't so much a commentary on OU vs these other schools as it is the other P-conferences vs the Big 12. Obviously OU has some pedigree on the national level. I just think the Big 12, for whatever reason, gets sand kicked in its face more often than not, it hurts OU (and UT), thus they are departing for greener pastures.

People said the same thing about TCU. “Look how good they are as a non P5 team. Imagine what they can do as a P5 team.” They’ve turned into a mediocre P5 team. They didn’t turn into powerhouse a lot of people thought they would. UCF had a couple great years. They’ve been bad to mediocre any other time. They will be a bottom feeder in this conference along with Kansas. BYU won’t pull in better players because they are a Mormon school. What they get now, is what they’ll get in the future. They’ll be a mediocre team in the P5. Houston and Cincy might pull in a little better recruits but they will be pretty much the middle of the conference most years. This conference no longer has a blue blood, or a big name school to boost the perception. The Big 12, even with these new teams, is eventually going to get dropped from the P5 status. It’s treading water and barely staying afloat right now. ISU would be fools not to jump ship to the Big ten or PAC 12 if the opportunity presented itself.
Hasn't UCF had LOTS of injuries this year including to their game changing QB? TBH, I don't follow them much but I did watch the beginning of their game vs Cincy and this was mentioned by the announcers.
